California deadass didn’t vote for Steyer because he’s a billionaire but then refused to vote for a tax increase on billionaires and votes to not have that proposition again. My head is spinning from this idiocy.

Some dude in California running a 3-person company got voters to give him $4.2 billion by authoring a ballot measure, which passed
Something feels a bit iffy about California prop 38. Doing a popular vote proposed by a 3 person non-profit that gives said non profit $4.2B from the public! I hope Gary is great and knows how to spend $4.2B well because it’s done.

This is why start dates matter. Bill signed in 2025, most of the Medicaid / SNAP changes don't hit until 2027-28. People will feel it in 2027 and argue about who did it.

The bill that’s the reason ICE has the $ to do what they’ve done, why everyone’s insurance premiums are up, and the insane tax cuts for the rich. They made sure some of the worst parts would go into effect after the midterms thinking they’d avoid backlash that way. Some of it:

You are trying to position yourself for 2028 by pretending you were concerned about those issues all along, but the fact is that when people within your own party brought up the cost of living, you made jokes about it. You are disingenuous at your core. nitter.cf/JDVance/status/2085000…
I'm surprised to hear Mark say this. If you've ever met him in person, it's quite obvious the man has never missed a burrito.

so disappointed with how ppl voted for prop 38 and prop 40 in CA. I think some of y’all can’t read that 2 billionaires gonna get HALF the available research money of 4.2 billion for prop 38 if passed and for 40 are delusional thinking you’re potential billionaires

California is lagging in the socialist push across the nation. Too long have we been complacent and allowing the neo liberal status quo to gain in unchecked power.

I'm so sorry no shade to you, but California voted no on 40 because we are in a severe literacy crisis *and* they were running no on 40 ads on Instagram since September.
California voted no on Prop 40 because mainstream culture is still obsessed with putting the bourgeoisie on a pedestal. Voting against our own best interests is insane, but if tonight shows anything - a tide is turning. Political education must continue.

California not voting for Prop 40 when 99.99999% of yall are not billionaires and will never be billionaires is so damn annoying. That tax literally would apply to 200 people out of 40 million.. like think.
