Last night, a FactMachine intern wore a ghost costume made of a fitted sheet rather than a flat sheet. Some attendees complained of a resemblance to the Ku Klux Klan uniform. We do not condone this and formally apologize to anyone offended. Jeremy has been let go.

sometimes i miss my high school days. life was simpler back then, and there are certain memories i still look back on with a strange mix of nostalgia and regret. for instance, i remember being voted among the hottest guys in school for three consecutive years. not something i like to brag about, obviously, and certainly not something i think about very often. i've always been pretty indifferent to that sort of attention. but there's something about those years that still keeps me up at night. you see, i've never been able to shake the thought that those rankings might not have been a fair representation of what the girls at my school actually thought. what if the results were disproportionately influenced by a small, vocal minority of popular girls? what about the quiet ones, the ones who never bothered to vote or make their opinions heard? were their preferences being adequately represented? how many voices were left unheard? the more i think about it, the more it troubles me that i'll probably never know whether i genuinely deserved those rankings. what haunts me even more is the possibility that my entire high school legacy was built on a statistical illusion, that i was merely the beneficiary of a deeply flawed system of collective opinion aggregation whose results failed to accurately reflect the true collective female sentiment. if only @factmachine had existed back then.
