My take: “Positioning themselves as the party trying to save the regime strikes me as a losing political strategy [for Democrats] ahead of the 2028 presidential campaign,” said Mark Dubowitz of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies @FDD, a think tank that has helped shape the Trump team’s thinking on Tehran.”
From @nahaltoosi: “And what if Trump keeps the military and economic pressure going and — hear me out — the effort works? What if the regime somehow melts away during his final years in office? Will Democrats look like they were on the wrong side of history? I can imagine the Democrats’ press releases now: “The Iranian regime was always a blight upon the world …”

Behind the scenes of U.S. midterm races, another campaign is quietly taking shape. Congress is poised to vote on the Trump administration’s proposed nuclear cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia.
The agreement would open the door to exporting U.S. uranium enrichment technology for the first time since the Manhattan Project. That marks a dangerous break with eight decades of bipartisan American nonproliferation policy — and with numerous statutes Congress itself has written.
Lawmakers should oppose the agreement in its current form.

Got to hand it to Qatar: when it comes to buying influence and corrupting democracies, they’re impressively nonpartisan. Left, right, radical left, radical right — no ideology is off-limits, no political camp beyond reach. Their only loyalty: their own interests and the advancement of Islamism. Their greatest success is eroding public trust in our democratic institutions from every direction.
True, Iran is seeking to rebuild what Operation Epic Fury destroyed. But another round of attacks would hand the regime the one thing that keeps it alive: a war.
The better: hold the pressure, point any force at the regime’s enforcers
