"VisionQuest" Hypothesis: 1. It is Phineas T. Horton, not J.I.M. He is the human being who now exists as an AI, possessing real memories while residing in hyperspace (much like Jocasta). He is the human upon whom Ultron is based. Whenever they appear, they are wearing a top hat; the series makes a point of showing that Ultron has either worn it or is associated with it. 2. It is J.I.M., whose human avatar—played by Paul Bettany—was Phineas’s son. As for the detail about the top hat, I am inclined to believe that it belongs to Phineas himself. This is why Ultron bears Phineas’s avatar, while Paul bears J.I.M.’s: because they are, in fact, the father and son upon whom their respective AIs are based. #Visionquest
