They have released work through labels such as Pacific Rhythm, Tartelet, and Running Back, blending the functionality of dance music with the intimate, out-of-the-blue closeness and psychedelia that seep through it in their music. Cunningham, is one of the defining figures in electronic composition—a forward-thinking artist and explorer who continually challenges established ideas. Since the release of his landmark album Splazsh in 2010, he has anticipated and pioneered many of the defining currents in club music. In 2024, he entered a new phase with the release of his tenth album, and first for Norwegian avant-garde label Smalltown Supersound. Throughout his career, Cunningham has developed a singular musical language. Rich with cryptic references and multidimensional approaches to techno and electro, his work has consistently remained ahead of its time. From reimagining Stockhausen to collaborating with an AI trained on his own music, his explorations have continued to shape the evolution of electronic music. Growing up in England’s post-industrial Midlands, Cunningham’s first passion was football, playing for the youth team of West Bromwich Albion until a career-ending injury led him toward music. Combining his classical training on the clarinet with a deep devotion to Detroit techno—particularly Derrick May, Carl Craig, and Kevin Saunderson—he gradually forged a distinctive artistic voice. His work has appeared on Strut, Jazzman Records, Athens Of The North, Sonoton and his own Blue Crystal Records. Recent solo albums The Rituals of Infinity and The Glass Frog continue his exploration of immersive soundscapes and emotive jazz. Now based in Tokyo, she performs across Japan, sharing lineups with internationally acclaimed artists. In 2023, she made her debut at Boiler Room Osaka. The following year, she performed solo at Rainbow Disco Club, rural, and the RED MARQUEE Stage at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL. In 2025, she returned to both Rainbow Disco Club and the FUJI ROCK RED MARQUEE Stage alongside the FULLHOUSE crew, while continuing to appear at numerous festivals nationwide. There’s the Hudson Valley-raised, Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist composer’s quasi-IDM and electronic almost-pop tracks with the occasional vocal; the improvised organic and and experimental music sessions he participates in alongside new age giants, Laraaji and Carlos Niño; the diaspora electronic folk-jazz he makes with veteran musicians from all over the globe; and the disco and house adjacent records he tag-team DJs with Brooklyn producer Cesar Toribio and engineer Phil Moffa (who also masters all of Photay’s records — and those of dance-music dons around the world). But if you’ve listened closely to Shornstein’s prodigious output, you know that separating and classifying the work is actually contrary to the energy of Photay music. That what on-the-surface may lazily appear as differences, is actually brought together by a shared sonic warmth, a hardware pastoralism at play. Whatever category he engages, Photay makes outdoor music under the spell of the elements, for the purpose of different human movements — some physical, some spiritual, some emotional, some philosophical. Born in Seligenstadt and shaped by the Offenbach/Frankfurt scene, he is closely associated with Robert Johnson and Club der Visionäre, where his extended sets connect house, minimal, techno, funk and warm, groove-led electronics. Since founding Pager Records with Phil Evans in 2015, Sommer has helped build the label into an international platform for records, parties and community-driven club culture. His productions — released on labels such as Pager, Imprints, Timeless or DrBanana Records — reflect a broad musical language touching deep house, electro, UK garage, future jazz and downtempo forms. 松丸契 1995年生まれ。パプアニューギニア出身。 サックス奏者・作曲家。2018年より東京を拠点に国内外で活動中。 サックス一本と空間のみを利用した90分間の独奏、パフォーマンス毎に変容し続けるエレクトロニクスのソロセット、ライブの度に新しく書き下ろす長尺の作曲作品の発表等のソロ活動に加え、様々なコンテクストで演奏や録音を行っている。 以下のアーティストと共演/録音多数：石若駿、石橋英子、ジム・オルーク、山本達久、betcover!!、Dos Monos、Geordie Greep、浦上想起、岡田拓郎、大友良英、etc. 2025年9月に最新アルバム『Dokusō, YūYū』をLPでリリース。 Kei Matsumaru Saxophonist, Composer. Having grown up in a remote village in the highlands of Papua New Guinea, his time there has always been the main source of inspiration for his music. After his studies in the US, he has been based in Tokyo since 2018. In addition to his 90min acoustic solo performances “Dokusō”, his ever-changing electronic solo sets, and live performances of his long-form compositions, Kei regularly performs and records with various bands and artists including: Eiko Ishibashi, Jim O’Rourke, Dos Monos, betcover!!, Geordie Greep, Fabiano do Nascimento, Urakami Souki, Shun Ishiwaka, Otomo Yoshihide, Takuro Okada, Hakushi Hasegawa, etc. Kei’s acoustic solo saxophone album “Dokusō, YūYū” was most recently released on vinyl in 2025.
