'Europe’s autumn unrest did not begin beneath the television cameras in Paris. Before students blockaded schools in mainland France, teachers and parents in Mayotte (a French territory in the Indian Ocean) and students in French Guiana (a French territory in South America) had already demanded the elementary conditions of an education. Their protests received little attention, since the geography of recognition follows an old colonial map'. The opening of a longer essay by me on how Europe's streets reject the economy of war, at Counterpunch. counterpunch.org/2026/11/06/…

Liberals who consider themselves the left are always upset to find out ‘the left’ doesn’t consider them so. This is just liberal GCs learning the same thing. We see it all the time.

men moving through crowds touch female strangers' lower backs but they never, ever touch men's lower backs--bc theyre doing sexual assault. and they know they can get away with it, bc no one calls it what it actually is

Need people to realize there's a difference between being aware of your cycle and perpetuating the idea that women are slaves to their hormones at all times

I hate this shit. & no I’m not open to the “uh it’s actually pro woman” angle. This idea of radically different moods for each of these phases popped up like 1 year ago. It’s regressive full stop.

We’re not talking about a situation in which a woman is raped, though? What was being said was a woman who makes a conscious decision, whilst knowing she is a lesbian apparently, sleeping with men.

Evidently there are exclusively same-sex attracted women who have had sex with men before they realised they were lesbians, no one’s denying that. But it didn’t sound like this situation was what was being implied.

I simply do not care about lesbian vs bisexual discourse, almost everyone involved does need to take a step back and behave their age. But yes if you’re bisexual and go to a space solely for lesbians you’ll look entitled, much like how lesbians would if they did the reverse.

you? I just don’t get it. I think it’s fair enough for people both bisexual and gay to take issue with this narrative, and to express the reality that most of us never see these kinds of lesbian-bisexual infighting IRL that we see constantly online.

I’m sure it has and does happen! But let’s be serious, this is a very online talking point in a lot of cases. Mostly gay and bisexual (especially feminist!) women get on fairly well because we’re all just normal people trying to be respectful and mind our business.

We will never escape the "if you support my rights then I should have sexual access to you." discourse.

Lithuanian composer and conductor Mindaugas Piečaitis led an orchestra performing a piece inspired by Nora the cat, who famously “plays” the piano. The unusual performance was met with enthusiastic applause and a standing ovation.

You can’t have hyperwealth without hyperpoverty. A billionaire exists in one country because child labor exists in another. Stock markets grow by looting countries raw. That’s the reality of capitalism: the misanthropic greed of the rich is fed by devastating the poor.

a manufactured hell beyond comprehension
A new study (Li et al., 2026) recommends giving chickens just 2 hours of darkness nightly to maximize the time they spend eating. The study and photo are Chinese. But the idea is American: US chicken producers pioneered sleep restriction to keep their birds eating around the clock. We know chickens have far better welfare with 7–8 hours of darkness to sleep. Their ancestors, the red junglefowl, naturally sleep 12 hours a night. Today the US industry gives most birds just 4 hours of intermittent darkness. Will they now drop that to 2? Don't count on them considering what the birds need.
