EZEIZA AIRPORT OPERATING WITH A SINGLE, SHORTENED RUNWAY FOR 18 DAYS Ezeiza International Airport (EZE/SAEZ), Argentina’s main international gateway, is operating under significant runway restrictions from October 25 to November 11, 2026, due to scheduled infrastructure works. During this period, operations are restricted to Runway 11/29, with the available runway length reduced from approximately 3,300 meters to just 1,850 meters. The works involve rehabilitation of the secondary runway (17/35) and the intersection with the main runway, alongside associated airfield infrastructure improvements. Operational impact: Some international airlines have suspended services during the restriction period. Other carriers are reducing frequencies, revising flight schedules or introducing technical stops for refueling. Long-haul, wide-body operations face particular constraints due to the reduced take-off distance. The airport terminal remains open, but passengers travelling through Ezeiza should check directly with their airlines for the latest flight schedules and itinerary changes. The project forms part of a broader airport infrastructure investment program valued at approximately US$110 million. 📅 Restriction period: October 25 – November 11, 2026 📍 Airport: Ezeiza International Airport (EZE/SAEZ), Buenos Aires 🛫 Available runway: 11/29 📏 Available runway length: 1,850 meters #AviationNews #AirportOperations #RunwayWorks #AviationSafety #AirlineOperations

CYBERSECURITY ALERT: JAPAN AIRLINES REPORTS CUSTOMER DATA BREACH Japan Airlines (JAL) and Japan Transocean Air (JTA) have disclosed unauthorized access to customer reservation data through their third-party passenger service system provider, Amadeus IT Group. 🔎 What we know: Approximately 92,000 customers may have had reservation information accessed, including names, booking references, travel dates, flight sectors and travel class. For approximately 2,000 customers, additional information may have been exposed, including passport numbers, frequent flyer numbers, email addresses, phone numbers and nationality. Credit card numbers and passwords were not compromised, according to JAL. No impact on flight operations has been reported, and there is currently no evidence that the information has been misused. 📅 JAL said it was notified by Amadeus on October 23 and publicly disclosed the incident on October 28, 2026. The potentially affected reservation records span August 2023 to September 2026. 🌏 A wider cybersecurity concern: The disclosure comes amid a series of cyber incidents affecting Japanese businesses, highlighting the risks associated with third-party IT providers and interconnected digital systems across the travel industry. 🛡️ JAL says it will contact affected customers individually. Travelers are advised to remain vigilant against phishing emails, fraudulent calls and fake websites impersonating the airline. Aviation takeaway: Protecting passenger data is an increasingly critical part of airline security. Strong cybersecurity controls must extend beyond airline-operated systems to the entire aviation technology supply chain. #AviationNews #CyberSecurity #DataBreach #AviationIndustry #PassengerData #AirlineSecurity

US Federal Trade Commission targets airline ticket pricing as scrutiny of AI and personal data intensifies Key highlights: FTC targets three major US airlines: Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and JetBlue are among nine companies ordered to provide information about pricing practices. Personalized pricing under scrutiny: The investigation examines whether personal data, browsing behavior, location or loyalty-program participation can influence the prices offered to individual customers. Dynamic pricing is not the same as personalized pricing: Airlines routinely adjust fares according to demand, seat availability, booking time and competition. These differences alone do not establish personalized pricing. Previous controversies raise questions: Delta faced scrutiny over AI-assisted pricing technology in 2025, while JetBlue attracted attention in April 2026 after a social-media response linked fare changes to browser cookies and incognito mode. Both airlines have denied using personal data to set individual fares. Companies have 45 days to respond: The FTC issued the orders under Section 6(b) of the FTC Act, which allows broad market studies. The inquiry does not establish that any company has violated the law. Potential implications for the aviation industry: The findings could increase pressure on airlines to improve pricing transparency, document AI-driven decisions and strengthen oversight of customer data. PAKISTAN REVERSES AIRSPACE RESTRICTION ON TAIWANESE AIRLINES WITHIN HOURS Pakistan has reversed course after Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said the country would restrict Taiwanese airlines from using its airspace in support of Beijing’s “One China” policy. On October 28, 2026, Asif told Bloomberg that Pakistan’s aviation policy permitted only mainland Chinese airlines to overfly its territory. The reported restriction affected China Airlines and EVA Air, prompting both Taiwanese carriers to reroute services between Asia and Europe. 📍 A swift policy reversal Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority subsequently approved both airlines to use its airspace from October 28, 2026, to March 27, 2027, according to official documents reported by the Associated Press and Dawn. The authorizations restored their permission to overfly Pakistan, although the documents did not explain why the initial restriction was announced or why the position changed. 🌏 Why it matters for aviation Pakistani airspace is an important routing corridor for some Asia–Europe flights. Avoiding it can require longer routes, increasing flight times, fuel consumption and operating costs. The takeaway: Pakistan’s airspace permissions changed within hours, leaving questions about the decision-making process and its diplomatic implications. For airlines, reliable and predictable overflight permissions remain essential to efficient international operations. #AviationNews #Pakistan #ChinaAirlines #EVAAir #Airspace #AviationIndustry

A China Airlines Boeing 737-800, registered B-18665, operating flight CI840 from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) to Kaohsiung, Taiwan, encountered a serious ground-surface problem on the evening of October 28, 2026. According to initial information, a large depression allegedly appeared in the pavement near the aircraft’s landing gear as it was preparing for take-off, leaving the aircraft unable to move. A report claims that passengers were asked to disembark and that hotel accommodation was arranged. 🌧️ Was heavy rain responsible? Heavy rainfall has affected areas around Bangkok, but no verified evidence currently establishes that rain caused the alleged pavement failure. #aircraft

MEXICO CITY AIRPORT COULD WELCOME BACK DEDICATED CARGO AIRLINES — BUT A LEGAL HURDLE REMAINS Mexico is considering reopening Mexico City International Airport (AICM / MEX) to domestic and international dedicated cargo flights, with operations limited to non-congested hours. On October 19, 2026, Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation Secretary Jesús Esteva said cargo operators could choose whether to return to AICM or continue operating from Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA / NLU). Potential operating windows include the early morning, when traffic levels are lower. 📷 The regulatory challenge: A February 2023 presidential decree prohibited dedicated all-cargo operations at AICM, forcing cargo airlines to relocate their operations. The restriction does not apply to passenger aircraft carrying freight in their holds. 📷 Will cargo airlines return? As of October 21, airport officials reported that no cargo airline had submitted a request to resume operations at AICM. Authorities also acknowledged that some infrastructure adjustments might be required. The key question now is whether Mexico can translate its stated policy into an operational and legally enforceable reopening.
