Time to take on the media and their 'LGBTQIA+' fake news ✊ Following our bizarre Dyke Pride Brighton adventure, 3 publications have now reported on us as "attempting to disrupt" the event. Needless to say, none contacted us for comment Scene Magazine called us "anti-trans protesters", DIVA magazine called us "a small number of TERFs" and The Argus called us "a small group of protesters" They also said we left "quickly" as the crowd chanted "LGB with the T!" Good journalism reports accurately and doesn't present biased claims as established fact. It also provides the necessary context so the reader can understand what actually happened None of these magazines made it clear that: 👉 We were there to defend female homosexuality 👉 We were not in the designated event areas but on a public footpath 👉 We held up pro-lesbian signs and a flag 👉 As soon as we held these up crew members tried to block these (even using their high vis vests 🥴) 👉 They failed to control the crowd that gathered and surrounded us and let masked men stand right in front of us 👉 A crew member tried to steal one of our signs 👉 One sign was eventually damaged and stolen, to applause from the crowd 👉 Our flag was stolen 👉 We left after about 45 minutes because we did not want the situation to escalate as the crowd chanted "Protect the dolls! / We're trann*es, we're dykes, we p*ss where we like! / LGB with the T! / This is what community looks like!" Both DIVA Magazine and The Argus are regulated by IPSO. Scene Magazine upholds the principles of Impress, although it's not an official member. I have filed formal complaints will all three, asking for wording to be amended and for a right of reply, and asking for their source of the claim that we were there to "disrupt the event" DIVA has already come back and changed the article, though their new wording is just as poor (and hasn't been agreed with us) - I'll be sending our proposed wording tomorrow The other two have yet to come back. I'll keep you posted on how this develops It really is high time that the media, as captured and biased as they might be, don't rely solely on claims but report accurately and fairly. They have to uphold journalistic integrity, and their readers deserve to know the facts even if they don't want to hear them. High time for all this anti-Terf / anti-sex realism / anti-'gender critical' indoctrination or whatever you want to call it is over If they won't give us a voice and only seek to misrepresent us, we'll make sure they won't get away with it And it's high time that the organisers of Dyke Pride Brighton learn that they can't use the media as their puppets should it become clear that they provided them with the "they were here to disrupt" claim Enough.
