Briefly touched on this in my review of Your Mother x3. Protectiveness over the Muslim image in media is understandable, but is misplaced when demanding strictly polished and “positive representations.” It becomes counterproductive in that it further limits Muslim narratives.

Audiences laughed at some of Primetime's funny moments but they also laughed at the dark, uncomfortable moments because American audiences struggle to process serious issues through any lens other than entertainment and this is in fact at least part of what Primetime is about.
