Hey now that mutuals can see my tweets, here's what I've been up to in the last few years and especially this year.
1. I got deep into distributed systems. I built an on-prem deployment infra from the ground up in my home. It's a 3-node HA virtualised cluster. I run a few things on it - a 9-node Kubernetes cluster, a multi-node object storage, an ingress gateway, a backup file system storage, etc. I host many apps for my family and friends on this cluster. This also helped me earn my Google Cloud Cloud Architect certification.
2. I built a few CLI tools that I use on an everyday basis:
- gitsy (git pull all repos in a dir)
- tokeninsights (analyse token consumption metrics)
- ssh-drop (drag and drop screenshots for a remote ssh agent session)
- checksy (check network connectivity)
- cbox (WIP - a way to sandbox cli harnesses using docker)
3. I built a few server tools:
- key-keeper (a simple auth gateway for Caddy)
- backup-sidecar (not oss, i use this for backing up data from kubernetes services to a NAS storage on schedule)
- models-dev-rss (rss feed for models(dot)dev AI provider data)
4. I built a few websites:
- models-dev-website (a fork of the original models(dot)dev website to make page loads and search faster)
- tools-wiki (a collection of wikis for various popular cli tools)
5. I started writing again and published a few posts in the last year
6. I gave a few talks at SydAI this year
I can't recollect everything. It's been an exciting year of building stuff. I am very excited about what I am building now. Hopefully I will be able to talk about it soon.

This isn't your typical acquisition blog post. I'm really excited not just that @rough__sea, @piscisaureus, and friends are joining, but also what they plan to work on: Making workerd a first-class, self-hostable open source runtime. Read for more:

latest frontier models force you to work with software boundaries and inadvertently make you realise how good (or not good) you are at system design. the textbook signal is how often you end up refactoring parts of the system instead of enforcing boundary contracts.
uhm, forget about the eye in the sky. it's now in your ai.

I will never get tired of watching @paper mcp do its magic.
Impeccable + paper mcp becomes a two-way street where code becomes design and design becomes code.
tfw you're nearing 4% of your weekly usage left and suddenly @thsottiaux hits the reset button and you're at 99%

I’ll be blogging about this very thing soon but unless you’re a rich millionaire with no boss nothing in life has changed.
Life still has consequences.
Bad code can lose your job.
Bad code can lose your customers.
How we make code has changed but the consequences have NOT

we're about to flip the tables on what good implementation of MCP (and agent toolchain) looks like again

🚀 Meet Strands Decider 2B, a small open source decision model built for fast experimentation and local development: strandsagents.com/blog/intro…
It's part of a new class of decision models. Unlike reasoning models that generate open-ended text, Strands Decider 2B picks between options and assigns confidence scores. Decision models are faster and more capable at a given size, always produce an answer from the selected options, and can run with very low latency.
Strands Decider 2B is a 2 billion parameter model that runs on a local CPU or GPU and can return answers to meaningful questions in tens of milliseconds. On accuracy and calibration, it ranks second among public models in its ~2 billion parameter class, and first among those that share their full training recipe.
We're already seeing early success with model routing, tool selection, guardrails, evals, and hybrid agents that pair LLMs for the hard calls with decider models for the rote ones. Grab the code on GitHub and the latest snapshots on HuggingFace, and tell us what you build.
This space is super early and we are experimenting with different variants of these models, so give it a spin and give us feedback!

A pretty big change is that Pi now has MCP at the core. How is this even possible? What made us change our way? earendil.com/posts/you-said-…

forget mermaid, we should all be using @paper and its mcp to get agents to draw diagrams
