Lockheed L-382C Hercules was climbing through 22,000 ft when it experienced a rapid depressurization; the pilots of the Lynden Air Cargo flight donned oxygen masks and descended to 13,000 ft to carry out quick reference handbook actions and, suspecting a bleed air problem, to turn off bleed air systems.

Delivery drones, air taxis, and other emerging aircraft are changing what low-altitude operations could look like. But as these technologies move closer to routine use, a big question remains: How do we safely share the skies?
Safely integrating these operations will require more than new technology. It means rethinking how we manage airspace, coordinate between operators, and establish the infrastructure and procedures needed to support them.
Industry leaders will explore these challenges during Session 14 | Low-Altitude Operations, Shared Airspace: Integrating AAM and UAS Safely.
🎤 Moderator:
Dr. Wendy Okolo, Research Engineer in Intelligent Systems Division, @NASA
Panelists:
Matt McCardle, Global Head of Regulatory and Int'l Expansion, @Amazon Prime Air
Earl Lawrence, Aviation Policy Lead for Advanced Projects, @jobyaviation
Margaret Nagle, Chief Government and Aviation Officer, @Wing
As advanced air mobility continues to evolve, getting the technology right is only part of the equation. Making it work safely alongside existing operations will take collaboration across the aviation industry.

The future of our airspace is getting more complex. More traffic, new technologies, and emerging operations are changing how we share the skies. But how do we make sure safety keeps pace — and who takes responsibility for what comes next?
Explore these questions from different angles at IASS 2026, taking place Nov. 10–12 in Montreal.
✈️ Session 5 | Shared Skies: Managing the Future Airspace System
Michelle Bishop, Director Operational Transformation at @navcanada, will explore what it takes to safely integrate drones, advanced air mobility, commercial space operations, and increasing traffic into an already complex airspace system.
🎯 Session 13 | From Dialogue to Direction: Who Will Do What Next?
The conversation shifts from identifying challenges to taking action. Where can organizations make progress now? Where is industry-wide collaboration needed? And how do we turn discussions in Montreal into measurable progress?
Moderator:
Capt. Mark Cameron, Executive Manager Group Safety, @Qantas
Panelists:
Justin Erbacci, Director General, @airportscouncil
Cedric Wilson, Vice President of Safety, @AmericanAir
Félix Meunier, Director General of Civil Aviation, Transport Canada
