Yes I’m an ARMY account but I’m also a U.S. citizen who is celebrating a historic election in our country! 💜 Keisha Lance Bottoms (D–Georgia) - First Black woman elected governor in U.S. history, and Georgia’s first Black and first woman governor. 💜 Deb Haaland (D–New Mexico) - First Native American woman elected governor in U.S. history. 💜 Peggy Flanagan (D–Minnesota) - First Native American woman elected to the U.S. Senate. 💜 Chris Pappas (D–New Hampshire) - First openly gay man elected to the U.S. Senate. 💜 Abdul El-Sayed (D–Michigan) - First Muslim elected to the U.S. Senate. 💜 Gina Hinojosa (D–Texas) - First Latina elected governor of Texas. 💜 David Crowley (D–Wisconsin) - First Black governor of Wisconsin. 💜 Xavier Becerra (D–California) - First elected Latino governor of California. 💜 Amy Acton (D–Ohio) - First woman elected governor of Ohio. 💜 Amy Klobuchar (D–Minnesota) - First woman elected governor of Minnesota. 💜 Juliana Stratton (D–Illinois) - Her election means Illinois will become the first state represented by two women of color in the U.S. Senate simultaneously, alongside Tammy Duckworth. There were two Republicans firsts too, first black governor of Florida and first woman elected as governor of Tennessee. I don’t agree with their politics, but I can acknowledge the historic significance of their victories. For generations, women, people of color, Indigenous Americans, religious minorities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community have fought for a seat at the table. History was made, and it’s worth celebrating. 💜🇺🇸
