Hegseth Swears in Air Force General Who Was Forced to Retire for Refusing COVID-19 Vaccine | Misty Severi, Just The News
President Trump signed an executive order last year that allowed all military service members who were discharged for refusing the vaccine to be reinstated.
The Pentagon said Tuesday that War Secretary Pete Hegseth has reinstated an Air Force general who was forced to retire early in 2022 after she refused to get the COVID-19 vaccine under the Biden administration.
Air Force Brig. Gen. Melissa S. Cunningham, a 26-year veteran, was sworn back onto active duty in a ceremony last week.
"What a wonderful thing it is to be standing here right now with you, with the stance that you've taken," Hegseth told Cunningham. "Not only did you take a private stand in a very principled way as a warrior of conscience, but you led the way for others … and you stood courageously beside [your principles] on your faith, … which truly speaks to your character and is exactly, precisely, the kind of person we want to be bringing back."
Hegseth admitted that bringing service members back has been a more difficult process than he expected, but that it has been worth it.
The Pentagon said 608 service members have returned to active duty out of more than 8,000 who were forced to leave for refusing the vaccine.
"Those of you that have been here know [the reinstatement process] has not been an easy one, and it's not been a smooth one," Hegseth said. "I just know that, from Day 1, we said, 'We will do this.' And, from Day 2, we said, 'The only way we lose is if we quit, if we stop trying to improve the process [and] if we stop trying to find the warriors.'"
Cunningham thanked the current administration for allowing and working to get the service members back and pleaded with service members who have not returned to "help repair the breach."
"We need leaders, those courageous warriors [of] moral conscience, to return. The threats that our nation faces require bold, critical thinkers, and we need them back in the ranks," she said. "Your spiritual fortitude, your character and your courage are greatly needed in this hour, and our nation demands it. I am so fired up to be back."
The Department of Homeland Security swore in 56 United States Coast Guard members earlier this year who were dismissed during the Biden administration for failing to get the COVID vaccine.
The Coast Guard members received back pay effective from the date of their discharge and their service records were changed to reflect a period of continuous active service between the date of their discharge and their reinstatement.

🚨 This needs more attention. Poll Watcher in New York City says she was removed before the ballots were sealed. She says election officials kicked out all the poll watchers, even called to have them removed. They would not seal the ballots and wouldn’t close the voting machines
“Something very sketchy happened while I was poll watching in the Bronx. I was closing a location, and at first I thought everything was fine. I had checked the numbers, and the number of voters who signed in matched the number of ballots scanned — I was just really pleased and getting ready to go home. And then I noticed something really weird.
Which was that all of the poll workers were checking out and going home and the voting machines were still open. They were unlocked, unsealed, and the ballots hadn't been taken out yet. Now, this is very strange.
I've been poll watching in New York City since 2021, and I've never seen that happen. The procedure is that every voting machine has a poll worker assigned to it, and at the end of the night, each individual poll worker closes down their voting machine, seals it, and takes the ballots out and seals the ballots. And the ballots and the voting machines were totally unsealed.
So I just sat down and waited to see them take the ballots out and seal them. And then the coordinator started getting really like antsy and nervous, and they were like, you're all done, you got your numbers, you can go. And they actually got on the phone and called the deputy chief clerk who told me that I had to leave. And I said, no, I'm a poll watcher. I'm supposed to stay until the ballots are sealed and the police pick them up — They finally took the ballots out of the machine and put them in bags on the floor. And I said, they're not sealed.
And then they got the seals out and they put the seals on. I said, can I see the seal numbers? They said no. I said, did you check the seal number on the paperwork and initial it? She said yes. I said, can I see it? She said no”
“A guy named Charles, to close down the voting machines by himself. And I said, the voting machines aren't sealed. And he said, I'm sealing them, but he wasn't”
This means after all the poll watchers leave, Democrats could easily introduce any additional ballots they wanted to and also change the ballots in there
In New York the law says poll watchers are specifically authorized to observe the unlocking, examination and related sealing steps for voting machines and ballot boxes
It’s 2020 all over again. This will keep happening because no one ever gets held accountable for stealing our elections
We need federal intervention. Everyone involved should be going to prison
