URGENT CALL FOR ACCOUNTABILITY: IGBUDU MARKET DISRUPTION OF NAFDAC AND CONSUMER PROTECTION OPERATIONS @DSGovt @GovernorSheriffOborevwori @PoliceNG @PoliceNG_Delta @ndlea_nigeria @OfficialDSSNG @NAFDACAgency @fccpcnigeria. @DeltaPoliceNG We call on @RtHonSheriff , the Delta State Government, the Delta State Police Command, NAFDAC and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) to urgently investigate the alleged resistance and disruption of official operations by the Chairman and committee members of Igbudu Market. Who gave the market chairman and his committee the authority to obstruct government regulatory agencies carrying out their lawful duties? We demand: An immediate investigation into the incident. Identification of everyone involved in the disruption. Appropriate disciplinary action against anyone found culpable, including possible suspension or removal where justified. Police investigation where evidence establishes obstruction, intimidation or other criminal conduct. Assurance that NAFDAC and consumer protection officials can perform their duties without intimidation or interference. Governor @GovernorSheriffOborevwori, will your administration allow market committees to operate above the law? Market leadership is a responsibility, not a licence to intimidate public officers or obstruct lawful government operations. We demand accountability, not political protection. Nobody is above the law, regardless of position or influence.

Governor @m_akpakomiza and the Edo State Government, the people deserve answers. Why is it that after the Edo State Consumer Protection Committee announces its findings and publishes allegations of fake or expired products against supermarkets and shops, some of the affected business owners subsequently come out publicly to dispute those claims? If the committee has credible evidence, why are there conflicting accounts? Where are the verifiable inspection reports, product test results where necessary, and evidence supporting these allegations? I also want to address the incident involving traders who reportedly confronted the committee’s enforcement team along Mission Road. If investigations establish that any traders assaulted, threatened, intimidated or unlawfully obstructed the officials, they should be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law. Nobody should be allowed to take the law into their own hands. However, the committee must equally be accountable for its conduct and findings. I am asking the Edo State Government: Are the committee’s inspections conducted according to professional standards? Are its findings supported by verifiable evidence? What happens when affected businesses publicly challenge its allegations? Who investigates complaints against the committee itself? What disciplinary measures exist for officials who abuse their authority? Governor @GovernorOkpebholo, is this committee truly equal to the task entrusted to it? Consumer protection is not a publicity contest. It requires professionalism, credible evidence, transparency and enforcement without fear or favour. Edo people deserve protection from fake and expired products, but business owners also deserve fair treatment. Enforce the law, prosecute proven offenders and hold public officials accountable. Nobody should be above the law.
