Who's that, crawling out from the brush and into the spotlight? Why, it's our newest mascot, Tōtara the tuatara! Largely nocturnal (like most of you), owner of an above-average number of eyes, and seventh straight winner of the Annual Scrunkly Championship, evolution decided they're perfect roughly 250 million years ago, and Tōtara doesn't intend to let anyone forget it. Be you constantly iterating and reiterating your creative works, or adventuring down the winding, recursive journey of self-discovery, Tōtara hopes that you might find the spirit of growth and rebirth reflected in their koru patterning. It's hardly an easy feat to represent the Aoteroa New Zealand furry fandom, but we can think of no one more suited for the role. Biggest thanks to @CRYPTiKiTE for bringing Tōtara for life, and @z3phlee for this gorgeous shot of Tōtara engaging in one of their favorite reptilian pastimes!

Hi everyone, We'd like to clarify the timeline for the next FurcoNZ event: Our next convention will be FurcoNZ Camp 2027! Having undergone some major administrative changes in the past four months, we've only recently found ourselves in a position to begin planning our next events in earnest. We want to bring about the best cons possible, and this a process that takes time. It is, however, a process that has kicked off, and we can't wait to be able to share more. Between now and then, we plan to run smaller events to build our community and help support our endeavours. We'll release more information on the next Hotel event in future, and the dates and theme of Camp will be released as soon as they're confirmed!

Hi all, We’d like to share an important update about the future of FurcoNZ. Going forward, all FurcoNZ events will be 18+. FurcoNZ Camp is the only ongoing event directly affected by this change. Registration is now open for Christchurch Critters - our party event catering to furries, pups, critters, pets, and friends (as well us curious newcomers). We'll be returning to Galaxy Bar on December 14th, 4pm-9pm. This will be an 18+, gear/fursuit friendly event. Registration will be $25, or $30 for door sales. It is with great regret that we announce that we will not be running FurcoNZ Camp in 2026 due to venue unavailability, as (at this notice) we haven't been able to find an alternative venue that suits our needs. We are hoping to announce some other exciting things over the coming months and are aiming to host our next camp in 2027. Our next Hotel event is still on track for 2026 - details coming this summer!

Now that FurcoNZ Hotel 2025 has come to a close, please remember to look after your mental wellbeing and stay alert for PCD. Stay connected with both familiar faces and new friends - you'll have plenty more chances to reconnect in the near future! We had over 450 attendees (exact numbers still being tallied!) over the weekend and we counted 137 fursuiters at the parade! So many new faces and suits this year, it's been awesome seeing our community grow like it has in recent years. We'll soon be sending out our post-FurcoNZ feedback forms, and we'd love for you to fill them out. Thank you all for an incredible event, and we hope to see you next year!

FurcoNZ 2025 kicks off today, and we're aiming to open registration around 1pm - keep an eye on the announcements as there may be a couple of delays as we get a few final things in place. If you're arriving early (and generally, tbh) please be respectful of non-attendees as they may be intimidated by our vast numbers!
