Hey everyone,
Sergey here, with a quick personal update about the future of my projects. For over a decade I've been creating and maintaining open-source fixes and mods for classic PC games - including Fusion Fix, Widescreen Fixes Pack, Ultimate ASI Loader, Project2DFX, and many others. These mods have helped a lot of people enjoy older titles with proper widescreen support, better stability, and modern improvements. After being affected by layoffs and welcoming a new child into the family, balancing everything has become much harder. I want to keep maintaining these projects properly, which is why I've launched the Fusion Fix Sponsor Squad. Your monthly support helps me dedicate consistent time to bug fixes, new game support, and long-term development.
Here are the available tiers:
- Widescreen Warrior ($1/month)
- Bug Basher ($2/month)
- Water Wrecker ($3/month)
- Glitch Guardian ($5/month)
- Stutter Stopper ($10/month)
- Shader Shredder ($25/month)
All tiers include:
- Your name displayed in the public sponsors tracker (shown on the website, READMEs, and release pages)
Patreon, Ko-fi & Boosty sponsors also receive:
- A dedicated Discord role on the Fusion Fix server based on your tier
- Access to exclusive sponsor-only Discord channels
GitHub Sponsors also receive:
- The official GitHub Sponsor badge on your profile
Higher tiers get more prominent placement in the sponsors section, a free trial is available on Patreon and Boosty.
With your support, here are some of the things I want to focus on next:
- A completely remade Widescreen Fixes for classic versions of GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas, that include proper 3D and 2D scaling for absolutely everything, animated cutscene borders, new better looking text outlines, and much more.
- Full Project 2DFX remake for GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas, looks much better, contains important stability fixes, new features and for the first time ever, distant car lights.
- A major update to Widescreen Fixes for Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne.
- An update to Max Payne 3 Fusion Fix, focused on better ultra-wide support, customizable Field of View and some other fixes.
- A minor update to Resident Evil 6 Fusion Fix to address a crash on certain configurations.
- A minor updates to Need for Speed fixes, to address remaining issues reported on GitHub and other feedback.
You can sponsor through any of these platforms:

Bullet time looks better in ultrawide.
The Max Payne & Max Payne 2 Widescreen Fixes have been fully remade.
Correct aspect ratio, HUD & FOV, gamepad support and plenty more quality-of-life options.

Bonus cut content: plans for 8 Spies vs Mercs maps survive in the data (A01 to A08); only 6 shipped. And the maps config references a phantom co-op map codename, "COOP_SaltFlats."
13/14
Why it died: Blacklist underperformed and Ubisoft pulled post-launch support. The script, VO, menu slot, playable model and reward items all shipped. The missions themselves were never built.
12/14
Rewards were built too: the "Kestrel Op Suit," which shipped as the in-game Revenant Suit, plus the SA-58 OSW rifle. Both tied to a real DLC3 entitlement.
11/14
Kestrel wasn't just an NPC. He was a playable co-op partner: full pawn type, head and outfit presets, goggles, HUD tag, and his own barks ("Talk To Kestrel" choke and revive lines). He even had a menu slot in 4E Missions: "KESTREL."
10/14
Gameplay: four new co-op missions in a brand-new mode called "Assassination," split 2 Hunter and 2 Ghost. Leftover HUD strings read "LocID_C_HUD_Intro_Assassination = KESTREL MISSION," with the Hunter and Ghost variants flagged "Deprecated."
9/14
So the DLC was Kestrel's revenge: hunt down whoever betrayed him, while 4th Echelon races to four locations to stop VORON from using the intel he gave up under interrogation.
8/14
The best reveal: Kestrel was presumed dead after a joint op with 3rd Echelon's Archer. And their pilot was Andriy Kobin. Kobin, in the files: "Kestrel and I. We got a bit of a history..."
7/14
Grim narrates his recovery in the hub the whole time: "still unresponsive" then "showed signs of awareness" then "stood up" then "Kestrel's up and awake in the infirmary. He's ready to talk."
5/14
Kestrel's deal: he'll reveal everything VORON tortured out of him. Covert ops, agent names, locations. In return: "I want to know who did this to me. And when I find them, I want you... to walk away."
4/14
The scene: Sam visits him in the Paladin infirmary.
Kestrel: "You're American. The last time I worked with Americans, I got shot. Why should I help you?"
Sam: "To get back at the people who kept you in a coma."
3/14
The DLC's dialogue survives verbatim in the files, in conversations literally named "Kestrel_DLC_Introduction" and "Kestrel_DLC_Menu_VO." Not a scrapped idea on a slide. A recorded, subtitled script.
2/14
Who is Kestrel? Mikhail Loskov, the VORON agent Sam and Briggs drag out of an induced coma in Blacklist's co-op campaign (Koltsovo, mission C04). His story ends there in the retail game. The DLC was the rest of it.
1/14
Splinter Cell: Blacklist had a fully written story DLC that Ubisoft quietly cancelled. The entire script is still sitting in the shipped game files. Here's what the cancelled "Kestrel" DLC actually was. 🧵

Wouldn't it be fun to bring some of the features from Resident Evil HD REMASTER over to the original trilogy? Well, now you can. Fusion Fix is out for RE1, RE2, and RE3 - 16:9 widescreen mode, alternative controls, polygon wobble fix for RE3, and more.
