The Thing (1982)
Finn: "The Thing is probably I would say the best horror movie, or my favorite horror movie ever. It has one of the sickest soundtracks. It looks so cool and every performance in it is distinct and amazing and specific. Like you really believe that these guys are stuck together. And Wilford Brimley’s role is just one of the best things.
So I watched this actually in London at the Prince Charles Theatre when they did the 4K restoration. They screened it and I saw it with my whole family and all of us by the end of it were just like, that was perfect. That was a perfect movie. So yeah, this movie is definitely one of the greatest."
Fun fact: There was a poster of The Thing in the Wheelers’ basement that Finn admitted was one of the few things he took from set on the last day of filming!

Evil Dead II (1987)
Finn: "I just respect this movie so much because it's such a gigantic swing that pays off so well. […] Another movie that puts its characters in unbelievably dangerous situation, an uncontrollable situation. But at the core of it, it's just a guy who's trying to get his girlfriend back and try to make her happy essentially. He keeps falling for it over and over and over and over again. It's so funny."

Idle Hands (1999)
Finn: "I also love Idle Hands. I think it's great. I think I always just found it really interesting growing up of just like, oh, a teenage kid who has absolutely no control over his body. I think especially too, like when you're at that age where your body's kind of awkward and like you're kind of figuring stuff out more. I always just found that concept to be really awesome and yeah, I mean, I hope it happens. Even though it's a movie about a kid's hand who gets possessed, it's like weirdly, a personal film."
As we all know, Finn Wolfhard and Billy Bryk have signed on to write a reimagining of this cult classic for Sony Pictures with Jason Reitman as producer. As of April 2025, they’re continuing to work on the writing of the film!

Attack the Block (2011)
Finn: "Attack the Block is maybe one of my favorite movies ever. It came at a similar time actually as I watched Shaun of the Dead and Joe Cornish directed this. It jumpstarted John Boyega's career and has this amazing cast of discoveries who were from London. I think its style is so good and I think one of the most original designs for aliens ever in movies."

This one somehow got left out of the Portland postings we just did, but maybe for good reason as it's clearly the best and deserved its own post ❤️🩹 We know Finn loves his ice cream!
