The only generation that knows how computers work is also the most relaxed about AI:

A breaded chunk of poultry is not, nor has it ever been a “boneless wing” and garlic Parmesan is not a “hot wing” flavor. These lies have to STOP.

Typing was never the bottleneck. Mechanical keyboards and Vim configs were the rice rockets of the software industry.
You don't really hear much about what mechanical keyboard switches people are using anymore

The AI colorized one feels different because the pencil one has certain thick lines that make the hand and face expressions very readable. The face and hands are muddier in the AI version.
Another test of bringing a rough pencil test by the amazing Disney animator #MiltKahl up to today's standards using AI, in this case, #Seedance 2.5 on @dreamina_ai What do you think? Do you think Milt would have embraced this technology?

Be honest: what was your first code editor?

What I find strange is that things aren’t getting more optimized and bug free. Nobody cares. I use BigQuery daily. There are so many QOL things that could be fixed in a week or 2 that would improve UX, but nobody cares. Instead they add Gemini autocomplete, which barely works.
I still can't get over the complete lack of impact agentic coding has had on software from a user's perspective. Our industry looks faintly ridiculous for waxing lyrical about the "agentic era" when it's had zero observable impact to the end user.

I remember a time when rock fans were like “Corgan sucks, he’s weird and arrogant”. But after hearing him say why Zwan broke up and how he didn’t fit into the indie crowd because he’s into sports, I’m starting to think he’s just a normal cool dude, and leftoid rock fans hate that
The most punk rock thing Billy Corgan ever did was when he started to explicitly talk about God in his music.

I’ll be doing this in my car from now on. To… you know, save time
Honestly get on the Japanese U-turn. Changed the game for me.

Going through this phase and eventually just landing on a macbook and iphone cause you really just want to get stuff done, go home, and not screw around with computers all day

This man brought prog-rock to the people, and what did they do in return? Called him a nerd. The injustice

Also the first 2 books are pretty short. Is it really that hard to read a couple little novels?
The reason that you should read Silent Planet and Perelandra before Hideous Strength is because the third book is chiefly about marriage and the first two books are about Mars and Venus, both literally and mythically. This is Lewis folks. This is not an accident.

You either know enough to know you shouldn't use a schemaless database, or you don't know any better, which means you, of all people, shouldn't be using one
"we'll use a NoSQL database so we don't have to worry about schema migrations." - someone who is about to spend the next two years reinventing relational joins in application-level javascript.

Guys like this are the reason we've had feminism for the past 100 years
My only marriage advice for guys: you can be happy, or you can be right. You decide.

The trick is to not use the cap it comes with. Cover the tip with a piece of scotch tape and it won't dry out
> buy superglue > use it once > entire bottle solidifies I tip my hat to this scam, well played

Conservatism is often just slow progressivism
I miss the days when sexual promiscuity, nudity, and gambling weren't being praised as Conservative values.
