We share the outrage expressed by members & colleagues across the NHS about Dr Hilton's letter to @thetimes The response from @RCoAPresident Fiona Donald, Chair of our Welsh Board Simon Ford, @DannytheBaker of @FICMNews & @LorrainedeGray1 of @FacultyPainMed is published today.
Sir, we write to express our disgust at comments made by Dr Peter Hilton that doctors subjected to "sexually inappropriate comments and actions" should accept this as part of medical training and practice. Such actions are wholly unacceptable. Sexual misconduct must not be tolerated in any workplace and people affected deserve compassion, justice and a commitment to zero tolerance from their employers and colleagues. Attitudes such as Dr Hilton's do not represent the views of our members but do perhaps demonstrate why sexual misconduct is sadly so widespread within healthcare. It is vital we do everything we can to eradicate these attitudes and behaviours. Dr Fiona Donald, President, Royal College of Anaesthetists, Dr Simon Ford, Chair, Welsh Board of the Royal College of Anaesthetists, Dr Daniele Bryden, Dean, Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine.

Standing with the English medics - this graph says it all. I’ve had so many colleagues for other countries/professions with much better working conditions. The NHS needs ongoing, continued investment in staff in order to continue to provide a good and safe service to patients.

The junior doctor strike in England is not about a “35% increase in pay”it’s about restoring pay to what it should have been if it was fairly indexed over the past decade. Well done to the consultants and allied healthcare workers who will continue to provide service in support
