I first raised this publicly on October 15. Since then, I've contacted your team repeatedly, asked for a clear explanation, and requested straightforward instructions to withdraw my funds. What have I received? Silence and repetitive copy-paste responses about a compliance flag and KYC. Not a single actionable answer explaining how I can recover my assets or access my trading history. You claim Derive is self-custodial. Then explain how users are supposed to recover their assets when you restrict access to your frontend and off-chain orderbook. I shouldn't have to beg for basic answers about my own funds. @DeriveXYZ, this is your opportunity to address this publicly and provide a concrete solution. Otherwise, I'll continue documenting my experience and making sure the Web3 community understands what happened. The Kelly criterion (1956) tells you the leverage multiple that maximizes long-run growth given an asset’s expected return and volatility. For something as volatile as Bitcoin, that number is surprisingly modest — around 1.33x. Go much higher and the compounding penalty from volatility drag starts working against you. Go lower and you leave growth on the table. That compresses financing drag dramatically and keeps the cost more predictable. Result: both sides can outperform their closest alternatives. This creates a “productive band” of leverage where compounding works for the holder over long horizons instead of against them. Outside that band (the 2x and 3x zone for BTC), the drag eventually dominates. Inside it, moderate leverage + lower financing cost can compound in your favor — the same way a pure spot position does, just with more exposure.
