British left India looted with 13% literacy rate, extreme poverty, the country didn't grow enough crops to feed it's own people, widespread famines, virtually no hospitals or clinics, no industries, no engineering institutes or entrepreneurship, a mediocre GDP.
Today India's literacy rate is 85%, removed 400 million people out of poverty in just the last 20 years, grows enough agricultural products to feed all 1.4 billion people and then export some, barely any famines, some of the cheapest and advanced medical care facilities, the pharmacy of the world, elite engineering institutes that produce some of the most brilliant engineers in the world, IT and technological breakthroughs everyday, 75000+ registered startups solving real world problems - 150 of which are unicorn startups, 5th biggest gdp and the fastest growing economy in the world, the country that builds the second highest infrastructure in the world after China and way ahead of US. The list goes on.

And “Indian” is a compliment.
If you’re Indian and someone throws that word at you as an insult, tell them:

My pride in being an Indian does not need come from an Indian pilot saving an aircraft with 170 souls. I'm proud to be an Indian - and Hindu - because my ancestors fought Islamic invaders for 1,400 years and Christian invaders from Europe for 400 years - nonstop. Very few countries survived assault by these two religious groups; India survived both. Roman, Greek, Egyptian and Chinese civilizations fell before the desert religions; Indian civilization alone survives. That is something to be proud about.

BJP could have ruled India comfortably for the next 50 years if it had done just two things.
1. Saffronised education, media, and cinema.
2. Stayed with the Hindutva agenda.
There is already a 30% bloc that identifies as proudly Hindu. The first move could have expanded that base to 50–60% and since BJP is the only RW pro-Hindu party in India and holds a monopoly on this ideology, so that combination could have made it politically invincible.
What is harder to understand is why BJP did the opposite.
First they handed education and much of the media to the Left in platter. They converted it into woke ultra left
Then they sidelined Hindutva as its core pitch, and shifted to caste politics.
That is why it is facing so much trouble today, despite of doing fantastic work on the economy, development, and national security.

Lt Gen J. F. R. Jacob was more than one of India’s greatest military strategists. He was a proud Indian Jew whose life showed what true belonging looks like.
Born into Kolkata’s Baghdadi Jewish community, Jacob served India with distinction from the jungles of Burma to the liberation of Bangladesh in 1971. As Chief of Staff of Eastern Command, he helped shape the campaign that brought the war to a decisive end. On 16 December 1971, he flew to Dhaka and helped secure the surrender of Pakistan’s Eastern Command.
Around 90,000 Pakistani personnel laid down their arms. Bangladesh was born.
Jacob later served as Governor of Punjab and Goa, and as Administrator of Chandigarh. He never had to choose between his Jewish identity and his Indian patriotism. India allowed him to be entirely both.
His story is one of courage, service and the enduring bond between India and the Jewish people.
