Revisit @marcbhargava’s conversation with CEO @jakeserval.
Before starting @getserval, @jakeserval changed one question in his customer interviews. He asked IT teams what they would hand to someone hired to sit next to them and do their work.
Almost everyone said the same thing. Building automations took longer than doing the task itself, which left them resetting passwords by hand, week after week.
Serval automates the automations for every team that supports employees.

We raised a $150M Series C at a $3B valuation, led by @sequoia. Our third round in 12 months, bringing our total funding to $277M.
Our team has grown 10x in the last 12 months. We now serve Fox Corporation, WPP, Live Nation, Lucid Motors, and Ramp, and many of them are fully replacing legacy platforms with @getserval.
AI coding tools have transformed how engineers work. Serval brings that same power to every team, so anyone can build governed automations across the systems they already use.
We’re hiring 500+ people over the next year and expanding in San Francisco, NYC, London, Austin, and beyond.
If you’re down to take on legacy enterprise systems and transform how teams work, my cofounder @AlexAtServal and I would love to meet you.

It's been such a wild journey that I always start my stories of the early days with "way back when", but that was only 2 years ago!
Guess it's pretty incredible what's possible with 2 years (+ some change) and your dream team.
We're always hiring :)

I think @getserval is the fastest-growing enterprise system of record in history (I'm not 100% sure, but I haven't been able to falsify the hypothesis).
That's cool, but the real story is why. Why are things working so well?
First and foremost, @jakeserval @AlexAtServal @TatianaBirgisso and the rest of the team have a unique blend of passion, clear-thinking, creativity, and pace... they do the right things with a high degree of craft and quality, quickly.
Second, the product they built is amazing. It has a natural insertion point into any enterprise, and then it just keeps spreading from one team to the next. Easy entry with widespread adoption is a powerful dynamic.
Finally, the market is wide open. IT needs an AI-native platform to call their own, and Serval hit the nail on the head.
It's been a pleasure to work with @getserval alongside my partner @biad_anas, and we are beyond thrilled to double down!

👉 Our customer base has grown 736%
👉 Our team has grown 10x

👉 Many customers are replacing ServiceNow with Serval outright. Lucid Motors moved ITSM, CMDB and asset management to Serval in 45 days
Today, we announced a $150M Series C at a $3B valuation led by @sequoia, with participation from @eladgil, @EvanticCapital, @firstround, @generalcatalyst, @Redpoint, @conviction, and @HeadlineVC.
Why? To give every department the same power AI has given software engineers. So employees across IT, HR, Legal, Finance and beyond can build automations with enterprise-grade security built in.
We’re investing even more deeply in Catalyst, our automation agent, and launching ProServal, a new professional services arm where AI-pilled Automation Engineers work side by side with our customers. We’re hiring > 100 of them.
These Automation Engineers will sit inside complex organizations, learn how their legacy processes work, and transform the business one process at a time with AI at the center.
A little over a year ago, I joined @getserval as employee #10 and our first business hire.
I’m in awe of how far we’ve come and could not be more optimistic and energized about the future we are building. Our team keeps finding new ways to pull timelines forward.
⚡ Spencer Lang deployed Serval at a company with +100K employees in 2 months
⚡ @ChristneKim created Serval Start to recruit exceptional builders and technical talent

⚡ @viraj_lunani built Journeys to reimagine the onboarding and offboarding process for large enterprises with 100% automation at its core and deployed it to a Fortune 20 customer in under 3 months

We @sequoia are thrilled to lead a consecutive round at @getserval, this time their Series C.
When we first partnered with Serval last year, we knew we had found an exceptional team with the right platform and the strongest tailwind (the rise of AI) to win. We had high expectations of the team, and since then they have even exceeded those expectations on both (1) the input - the strength of the team they have assembled, and (2) the output - the revenue growth, the quality of that revenue (system-of-record), the scale of their customers (large enterprises and Fortune 500s), and the value and ROI they deliver to them. From the data we’ve seen, Serval is on a trajectory to be the fastest-growing enterprise system-of-record company in history.
Enterprise-wide AI automation is the holy grail. Serval’s mission of empowering IT is the most scalable and elegant way to deliver automation to every department in the enterprise, and today Serval is used across 13 departments per customer on average.
AI coding unlocked engineers, but that’s a small part of an organisation. If you want to work on coding agents for every department and close the gap between what AI is capable of and how enterprises actually use it, Serval is hiring across the board and globally. It’s Serval Now!

We raised a $150M Series C at a $3B valuation, led by @sequoia, to give everyone in the enterprise the power to build and automate like an engineer.
In under two years, AI coding tools have transformed how engineering teams work. Engineers describe what they want and ship it the same day. We want the same for everyone. From IT and HR to legal, security, talent, marketing, and beyond.
We’ve onboarded two of the Fortune 20 in the last six months and doubled ARR every quarter since our Series B. Customers include @FOXCorp, @WPP, @LiveNation, and @tryramp.
Now the hard part. Bringing @getserval to every employee means:
→ Trust at scale: agents never get more power than the person asking
→ Reliability for people who don’t write code
→ Agents that find and fix problems before anyone realizes something is wrong
→ One system of record for every department
In the last 12 months, the team has grown by 10x. Now we’re hiring the best engineers in the world to build what’s next.

ServiceNow’s CTO says AI means hiring fewer entry-level people, but had no answer when @FoxBusiness asked where its future engineers will come from.
The segment then turned to @getserval. We’re accelerating our early-career hiring, including for a role that didn’t exist two years ago: the Automation Engineer. Many of these hires will come straight out of college.
The next generation of technical leaders is entering the workforce now. We’re hiring a lot of them. Learn more: serval.com/blog/the-rise-of-…

The highest-leverage thing I’ve done as a founding engineer at Serval is focus on talent.
I realized early on that if I wanted to double my impact, working twice as much was impossible (not enough hours in the day) and becoming twice as good of an engineer was really really hard. But if I could help bring in five great engineers, I’d multiply what we could build and in a much more scalable way. Especially if I then helped those five great engineers bring in their own great networks!
We’ve grown from about 20 people to 160 in this last year, and more than 40% of our hires came through referrals. In engineering, that number is even higher.
The traditional playbook says build a huge top of funnel through agencies, then filter down stage by stage. But that's not what the greatest organizations in the world with the absolute highest bars for talent do. The 49ers won't hold open tryouts to find their starting quarterback. They'll identify the best free agents in the market and go focus on winning them over. We do the same.
Referrals give us the strongest signal we can get. The best interview loop gives us maybe eight hours with a candidate. A referrer has often worked alongside that person for years.
We offer huge referral bonuses and we then work to empower our employees to earn them. We've built internal tools like Spot, which analyzes everyone's network against every job description we have open to make suggestions to our employees on who to reach out to. We have fun tools like Orbits which maps each person's referral network like a social system, helps visualize your dynasty, and doubles as a leaderboard. We also host events where employees can bring their networks to get to know the team at Serval over a fully covered game of poker or a cold plunge.
Thanks to Netta Jenkins and Inc. Magazine for telling the story: lnkd.in/g3aVeVKg
We’re still hiring. If you’re an exceptional engineer (or an exceptional anything), my DMs are open!

We started Serval by automating individual requests, like software access or a password reset. But the work that weighs most on IT and HR spans multiple systems and teams, and often runs for days or weeks.
A single new hire or role change can trigger dozens of tasks across countless systems. Journeys automates all of them in one flow, with every step owned and logged. Customers with 1,000 to 150,000 employees already use it for onboarding.
Every company runs countless multi-step processes like these. We’re taking that tedious work out of everyone’s day.
Introducing... JOURNEYS.
Every hire, departure, or role change creates dozens of HR and IT tasks. Journeys automates them into one flow, with every step owned and logged.
