These Amhara families were in Jari because violence had already driven them from their homes in Wellega, after losing loved ones, livelihoods and everything they had built. The camp was supposed to offer refuge.
Now Reuters reports drone strikes on Jari 2 killed at least 15 people, including five children. All three sources said there was no fighting in the area when the strikes hit.
They survived violence, displacement and unimaginable loss only to be killed where they sought refuge. The world’s silence compounds their abandonment.

These people were found in this camp because they had been forcibly displaced from Wollega the land where they were born and raised, simply because of their Amhara identity. They had sought refuge in Wollo, where they were living in a displacement camp when they were struck by drone attacks.
The @AbiyAhmedAli regime is responsible for the suffering these people have endured, from their initial forced displacement to the latest drone attack.
