Why does terminology consistency matter months later?
Because the same technical feature may come back in a new document, a new claim, or a new stage of prosecution.
A good terminology record means the team doesn’t have to reinvent the answer.
#IP
“at least one”
“about 50°C”
“preferably”
“including”
They look harmless. In a patent, they may define a feature, a range, or whether something is required or merely preferred.
Small words. Surprisingly large jobs.

Can a PCT specification be machine-translated and filed directly?
Tempting idea—especially when the document is 100 pages long.
But in patent translation, “translated” and “ready to file” are two very different milestones.

Being a localization PM can feel like serving two teams at once: your own team and the client. You listen, adjust, unblock, and keep everyone moving in the same direction.
Turns out, “managing” often means making sure everyone else can keep going.

A localization tester’s favorite question?
“Wait… is this actually a bug?” 🕵️
A missing period, a glossary conflict, a strange-looking phrase — not every reported issue is a real issue.
Sometimes QA feels less like testing and more like detective work.

A PCT filing is only part of the journey. 🌍
Once a patent enters the national phase, language, documents, deadlines, and terminology all start moving together.
The real question isn’t just “How much?”
It’s “How does the translation plan fit the filing strategy?”
#PCT
Going global? Maybe don’t localize the whole catalog on day one.
Pick 1–2 markets. Test a few priority products. See what actually gets traction.
Not every sentence needs the same level of localization.
Start small. Learn. Then scale.

One small thing patent translators learn quickly: A term from six months ago may suddenly come back in an amended claim. That’s why previous translations and terminology matter.
Patent language has a memory — and sometimes, your best reference is your own work.

A little cake, a little tea, and a good excuse to pause. 🎂☕️
We took a break to celebrate our Q3 birthday stars — because sometimes a busy workday just needs snacks, laughter, and a few good people around.
Happy birthday! 💛

Translation quality is often decided by the things you almost miss.
A number. A company name. One familiar term in the wrong context.
Over time, I’ve learned that good quality isn’t about checking everything twice. It’s knowing which small things actually matter.

A patent doesn’t end with the first translation.
PCT filing. National phase. Office action. Response. Then another revision lands on the desk.
The language work keeps moving too.
The longer the IP journey, the more important it becomes to keep terminology and context connected.
A patent journey rarely ends with the first translation. 🌏
PCT filing. National phase. Office action. Amendments.
The documents keep changing, so the language has to keep up — with terminology, context, and technical meaning staying connected along the way.

A patent translator’s desk can get crowded. 😅
Documents, termbases, old translations, reference files… and now, AI tools.
The real question isn’t how many resources you have. It’s whether the right one shows up when you need it.
That’s where tools like G-Tranx can help.
The hardest part of patent translation may not be the sentence in front of you.
It’s the 10 other places that sentence needs to match. 👀
Claims, specifications, office actions, national filings — one wording change can follow a patent for years.

Two days in Beijing, plenty of IP conversations, and lots of new connections. 👋
Thanks to everyone who stopped by Glodom’s booth at CIPAC 2026. Great conversations don’t have to end when the event does.

Patent translation has a funny habit: one tiny word can take longer to check than an entire paragraph. 🤔
Why? Because in a patent, wording can affect meaning, consistency, and scope.
So translators read sideways, backwards, and sometimes all the way back to an earlier filing.
I was having a terrible day.
My mom’s solution? “Come on. I’ll show you the vegetable garden.”
Ten minutes later, I was hearing about her green beans, tomatoes, and proud little osmanthus tree.
Sometimes, you don’t need advice. You just need someone to show you what’s growing.
The first patent translation is only the beginning. 🧬
PCT today. National filings months later. Amendments after that.
Without a solid language foundation, every new document starts from scratch.
AI can speed things up. Experts still have to make the calls.
#IPTranslation
A patent translation can be correct today — and cause headaches six months later. 🤔
PCT filings, national phases, amendments, office actions… the same terms keep coming back.
The real challenge? Making sure every new document still speaks the same technical language.
