Ten years ago, legendary Go grandmaster Lee Sedol made history by scoring the only human win against Google’s AlphaGo. Having built an incredible career with 14 major international titles after turning pro at just 12 years old, Lee is now stepping into an unexpected new chapter.
Since retiring from professional Go in 2019, he has explored everything from board game design to hit TV shows like Netflix’s The Devil’s Plan. Now, he stars in a brand-new KBS reality series, “Unemployed Lee Sedol.”
Inspired by the 10th anniversary of his historic match against AlphaGo, the show follows Lee as he tries out manual jobs that AI cannot easily replace—from washing skyscraper windows to delivering yogurt door-to-door. Yet, as Lee candidly admits, he hasn’t found anything that could truly replace Go, and he is still searching. ✨
“Unemployed Lee Se-dol” premiered on Friday, October 23rd, on KBS.
