My Consti Law Professor in law school never discussed the possibility of someone surviving lethal injection. Nor did the framers. Neither the priests nor morticians.
Death has failed and shamed everybody!
If he does not die from the bullets, he should be Superman!
The Pentagon announced Monday that Nidal Hasan, who was sentenced to death for the 2009 mass shooting at Fort Hood, will be executed by firing squad, marking the first U.S. military execution in more than 60 years. abcnews.link/UTC5vhH
Here are some gems from recent grads who are now teaching law:
1. Onsite class is better than online.
2. A self made digest is better than one made by AI
3. An imperfect report is better than a perfect report made by AI
This is not my list but I totally agree with them.
Do not expect much will be done with recent revelations about corruption. If you hold much hope, you are bound to be disappointed.
We had high hopes during Erap’s conviction. Result: he was pardoned. For PDAF, the big fishes were acquitted. And last year’s villains have become
And everybody thought lethal injection was a humane way of execution.
What could be more excruciating than being injected twice and not die.
Death penalty is simply cruel and unusual punishment.
CLEP 101. To further supplement student learning, my class had a BRAINSTORMING session today on a rape case. It was a free flow of ideas meant to support certain propositions in a case.
For most including me, it was a learning experience. Many lessons to be gained from the
When Alex Eala was winning with her serves, people were praising her for it. Now that she’s losing, everyone’s saying she has to improve her serve.
Which one will it be?
In the end, let’s leave it to her trainers to figure it out. They’re the experts, not us.
They are supposed to be protected by the State under IPRA. But the reality is that they get screwed everyday by unscrupulous people. Anybody who has visited them will tell you that they are just props to the grand plan of corruption and exploitation.
Global demand for ube has sent prices soaring. Still, the Aeta indigenous communities in Pampanga, who have grown the purple yam for generations, face pressure on local supply as exports rise and Manila restricts fresh shipments.
Al Jazeera’s Jamela Alindogan reports.
Why is the Philippines restricting exports of its prized purple yam?

A useful guide for fellow lawyers out there. The basic clothing we need for our practice.
The vast majority of men don't wear tailored clothing often enough to warrant a large wardrobe. Thus, if you're interested in tailored clothing, the easiest way to avoid looking bad is to stick to very simple things:
— One "serious" suit in navy, mid-gray, or dark gray worsted wool. This should be single-breasted with notch lapels. You can wear this to weddings, funerals, religious events, and such.
— One solid-colored navy sport coat made from navy wool, likely hopsack or an open weave such as Mock Leno. This should again be single-breasted with notch lapels. This is the most versatile sport coat. It's the sort of thing you wear on Mother's Day.
— One or two other sport coats, likely mid- to dark brown. Make these from seasonal fabrics suited to your climate: wool-silk-linen if you live in a warm climate; tweed if you live in a colder climate. The fabrics can be patterned, but ask yourself when shopping — is this pattern something that a used car dealer or ESPN host would wear? If so, do not buy the jacket. These again should be single-breasted with notch lapels. Wear this when you want tailoring, but a suit looks out of place.
— One semi-spread collar dress shirt made from a smooth white cotton fabric, such as poplin or broadcloth. Avoid cutaway collars; they are gauche.
— A small stack of light-blue dress shirts — some solid-blue, some blue-white striped. If you're American and have any sense of pride in your country, get Oxford cloth button-downs where the collar points are long enough to give a full roll. If you're not American, or if you're a traitor to the United States, they can be semi-spread collars cut from smooth, pure cotton, such as broadcloth. Although I think end-on-end lends a bit of visual interest.
— A matte silk rep striped tie that's not too visually busy. Get this in a basic, sober color like navy, brown, or forest green. Always tie this with a four-in-hand. Never wear a full Windsor knot or anything too complicated (those weird knots that get lots of upvotes on Reddit).
— Trousers made in a classic cut (high-rise, not too slim). These should be light gray, mid gray, or tan, and then cut from seasonal materials that make sense for your climate — tropical wool for warmer seasons; wool flannel, cavalry twill, or whipcord for cooler seasons. You can get them with flat fronts or a single reverse pleat. Do not ask "are pleats stylish?" In fact, stop asking how to look stylish, young, or fashionable altogether.
— Two pairs of Goodyear-welted, full-grain leather dress shoes in mid or dark brown. These can be derbies or penny loafers, since you'll likely wear sport coats, not suits. (Do not wear oxford shoes with sport coats). Never touch tan leather shoes. Or any dress shoes with a sneaker bottom.
— A leather dress belt that's about 1.25" wide. The color should be close to the color of your shoes — dark brown with dark brown, mid-brown with mid-brown.
— Solid navy over-the-calf dress socks. These can be thin cotton if you live in a warm climate. Otherwise, choose thin wool.
Do not try to get creative. Even sticking with this formula will be creative enough, as no one knows how to wear tailored clothing anymore. Thus, you will look elegant in a sea of bad made-to-measure tailoring, Italian checked fabrics, skinny pants, tan dress shoes, black dress shirts, ugly ties, and the like.
Not all divorces are created equal. Ang dami namang conflicts cases ngayon. In fact, I may need to revise my book this early.😊
US billionaire of Pakistani background, Mohammad Ali Choudhri, sends his wife, Hira Azha, to Pakistan and secretly divorces her under Sharia law, paying only $50. 13 years later, the Texas Supreme Court cancels the foreign talaq (divorce), stating it is not consistent with the American Constitution and cannot be accepted. @nytimes @washingtonpost @BBC @ABC @AdityaRajKaul @dawn_com timesofindia.indiatimes.com/…

I will need former SC Justices to explain to me what death is all about and what should be done if the convict simply refuses to die.
Tennessee death row inmate Christa Pike has been taken to hospital after her heart was still beating following two lethal injections during her execution, her lawyer says. Full story: bbc.in/46Tn0ss
Fiesta na naman ng mga bashers, losers, and gamblers.
The pressure is simply too much for her to win. It shows.
It’s tremendously hard to carry the hope of an entire nation on her shoulders. Let’s not be too hard on her for she tried her best.
I regularly feed my students with socmed info related to their lessons. I thought nobody was reading them. Until I brought up a news item that I could not even remember and a student stood up to discuss it.
Students read what profs teach them, I assure you!

What is the legal basis of Rodriguez’s theory? Apparently none, and the SC will have none of it.
RODRIGUEZ: FILIPINOS HAVE STANDING TO DEFEND CONSTITUTION
UPDATE: Before the Supreme Court dismissed his petition challenging the Senate Impeachment Court’s vote threshold, former Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez argued that Filipinos have legal standing to defend the Constitution under what he described as “intergenerational sovereignty.”
“This is OUR Constitution, this is where we derive our legal personality, this is our LOCUS STANDI,” Rodriguez said.
The SC later dismissed Rodriguez’s petition, along with two others, on procedural grounds including lack of standing and prematurity. | @TristanNodalo
