Finally time to put my trusty Windows 7 PC out of its/my misery. Couldn't bring myself to "upgrade" to Windows 10, installed Linux Mint on the old tower hw instead. An hour later and - whoa - everything *just worked* - even my ancient Canon MX850 printer. nerd-card renewed?
