ICE bringing US perps to Hyperliquid is a huge milestone. Congrats @tradexyz & @HyperliquidX.
Don's #2 is fair: anyone can track your positions live.
HyperLink fixes this today. Positions and orders stay private, settlement stays public. Same Hyperliquid liquidity, lower fees.
Further to my post about @NYSE working to bring @HyperliquidX onshore, major credit to @ChairmanSelig and the Trump administration for making all of this experimentation possible.
There’s only one way of finding out if something is useful to the marketplace and I’m excited for us to find out. I do have some questions:
1. What is the benefit of trading perps on-chain on a regulated exchange? Isn’t the main benefit of trading on-chain to operate in a trustless (aka non-kyc’d) environment in order to minimize friction, and/or to be able to enter into atomic transactions in order to receive what you are buying in realtime? Since a perp is not an asset, that obviously isn’t helpful.
2. @standuquesne - are you aware that if you trade on Hyperliquid, the world will be able to track your positions and trades in real time? Do you see that as a benefit?
3. Hyperliquid has priority fees - a mechanism that enables market participants to pay to see information first, or even prioritize orders in front of the queue. Is this consistent with CFTC core principles?
4. Will it be possible to combine the liquidity of the offshore order-book with the onshore order-book?
5. If not, wouldn’t it be better to list perps in a traditional (centralized) order-book on a regulated exchange and not have the inefficiencies that on-chain matching introduces?

Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and trade[XYZ] have announced their plan to use Hyperliquid as the infrastructure layer to deploy perpetual futures markets for US traders across crypto, equities, commodities, foreign exchange, and other real-world assets, subject to regulatory approvals. ICE operates NYSE and some of the largest exchanges and clearing houses globally.
In this structure:
+ Hyperliquid serves as the underlying technology infrastructure via HIP-3*
+ trade[XYZ] designs and implements the markets
+ ICE operates the regulated market and clearing structure
Existing trade[XYZ] HIP-3 markets will remain unchanged.
Hyperliquid is a neutral infrastructure layer with the goal of supporting large parts of the financial system. As with HIP-3, HIP-3* deployers are independent operators who use Hyperliquid as the onchain infrastructure layer for their own markets, while retaining control and responsibility over their deployment.
trade[XYZ] and ICE, owner of the New York Stock Exchange, are joining forces to bring 24/7 perpetual futures on Hyperliquid to the United States.
In just over a year, our markets on Hyperliquid have surpassed $650 billion in volume. They provide continuous price discovery for stocks, indices, and commodities, and have become trusted reference points for retail and institutions alike when traditional markets are closed. Much of the world trades them. Until now, Americans could only watch.
We intend to change that. Subject to CFTC approval, trade[XYZ] and ICE plan to establish a new, dedicated U.S. market, with novel exchange and clearing infrastructure built on Hyperliquid. Planned contracts span equities, indices, commodities, FX, and crypto, with access through participating brokers and platforms. We’ll share more on products, eligibility, and timing as approvals progress.
ICE brings more than 25 years of experience operating regulated markets, clearing, and managing risk. trade[XYZ] brings the product development, market design, and technology behind the most liquid and robust markets on Hyperliquid.
Innovation and the protections of U.S. regulation shouldn’t be a trade-off. Together, we plan to prove it.
ICE is making a strategic investment in trade[XYZ] and joins us in building towards the future of Hyperliquid. A small group of market luminaries is joining as well, beginning with Stan Druckenmiller. For more than four decades, few investors have anticipated the great turns in markets as often as Stan. We’re proud to have him with us for the next one.
We’re building the U.S. market in parallel with our existing HIP-3 markets, which we’ll continue to expand and innovate on. We expect both to flourish. They each have a long road map ahead, from new asset classes to new ways to trade them.
To the Hyperliquid community, whether you were here before us or came because of us, thank you. You took a chance on new markets and you made them matter. You’ll forever be a part of this story.
Anything. Anytime. On ICE[XYZ].

Retail bankrolls Hyperliquid.
~40% of volume. ~90% of fees. (@RuizheJia et al.)
Over half the $126M these users lost went straight to fees.
Their apps charge 2+ bps above base.
@hyperlink_xyz flips that: we pool volume + staking to give retail VIP rates below base.

And to everyone who stopped by to say hello, thank you for making the week memorable.
See you at the next one.
Until then, there's plenty more to build.

Since recording this over the summer with @andyyy, we have had several positive updates as it relates to US regulatory clarity.
Has never been a better time to build a business with Hyperliquid 🇺🇸

Hanson Birringer (@HansonBirringer) on The Rollup:
Hyperliquid is an open, permissionless L1. If decentralized venues win the new US regulatory clarity being pushed for, regulated brokers could route orders through it, and each new front end deepens liquidity for everyone.
0:01 Open L1; can't speak for the team but thinks they're handling it well
0:19 A CFTC comment seeks clarity for decentralized venues too
0:34 If so, regulated broker front ends could route orders through it
0:45 Fits the original liquidity layer, AWS-style thesis
0:52 Every new front end adds maker and taker volume for all users

Crypto moves in stages, each one progressing to what I believe to be the natural end state of finance: permissionless, composable onchain capital markets.
Prior cycles we saw new innovations lead to short term trends that drove retail mania but failed to bring real institutional adoption to assets besides BTC.
2017 = ICOs
2021 = NFTs
2024 = Memes
2026 = Revenue
We have a new era of tokens amongst us, led by hyperliquid:native, that are paving the way for real capital allocation to come onchain again.
Hanson Birringer (@HansonBirringer) on The Rollup:
Digital asset investors increasingly want tokens with real cash flows paid to holders, a standard Hyperliquid arguably set by breaking with the what-if valuations of past cycles.
0:01 A gap between the big two and revenue generating tokens investors now want
0:20 Past cycles' what-if premium: $500 a month revenue at a $2B valuation, amid supply and demand games
0:53 Hyperliquid as the purest expression of a growing company returning value through buybacks
1:05 Staking rewards and trader fee discounts make HYPE a productive asset alongside buybacks
