The British are thieves. 🇳🇬
In 1897, they burned Benin City to the ground and stole our royal heritage. Today, they keep the Queen Mother’s ivory mask and the Benin Bronzes locked behind glass in the British Museum.
They call it ‘history.’ We call it a crime scene.
@britishmuseum, the colonial ledger is unpaid. Return what you stole.

Burkina Faso has added the Haitian Revolution to its national school curriculum.
The decision means a West African country is now teaching its students about a revolt that once shook European powers. In 1791, enslaved Africans in the French colony of Saint-Domingue rose up against the French Empire.
They burned plantations and fought off the Spanish, the British, and eventually Napoleon’s forces. By 1804 they had won, founding Haiti the world’s first Black republic and the first nation born from a successful slave revolt.
France never accepted the loss. In 1825 it demanded 150 million francs in “compensation” for the enslaved people it claimed as lost property.
Haiti spent more than a century paying the debt, taking loans from French banks along the way. The final payment was made in 1947.

Africans haven't forgotten who the Queen was to us. She was the head of an empire built on our subjugation.
The 'First Star of Africa'—the Cullinan Diamonds in her crown and scepter—was mined in South Africa in 1905 under colonial rule. It was taken without the consent of the African people. They have demanded its return for decades. The wealth of the empire was built on what they took from us.
We remember the real history and we must teach our children.

In 1915, at 23 years old, a Black woman named Alice Ball solved leprosy. Before her, patients were ripped from their families and shipped off to islands in total exile. She turned chaulmoogra oil into the first successful injectable cure. She died at 24. Her university president Arthur Dean stole her research, slapped his name on it, and called it the Dean Method. Years later, Dr. Harry Hollmann gave her credit back. Her name was Alice Ball.
