New Yorkers ages 25–55 will be able to earn a college degree for free starting in January 2027. Governor Kathy Hochul is expanding the Reconnect program to include adults who already have a degree in a different field. It covers eligible associate degree programs at SUNY and CUNY community colleges in fields such as healthcare, cybersecurity and advanced manufacturing.
