Hiring has changed. It's not about what you can build. It's about how. With AI, you can build software, compose music, write articles, and more. The output is no longer the hard part (although the quality varies), how you got there matters more. We have reimagined @hackerrank and are continuously raising the bar on helping customers hire for the agentic era. Here's a wrap on our fall release 🧵

Hiring in the agentic era means looking beyond just the final output and understanding how someone got there. Now that AI has made it easier to build, evaluating the approach matters more than ever. Here’s what we shipped @hackerrank this quarter to help you do that.

This is true. I met Garry yesterday after a really long time. He saw me pitch the new hackerrank and sent a text that simply said, “so proud of you bro”. Little does he know that the text will give me fuel that will last for a few months, if not more to work on even greater things. People from the outside think about YC as just office hours, some money, community, etc but an underrated aspect of YC is giving founders the belief that they can build something special. Such a great institution!
One of the most unexpected things about YC is how long we continue helping the founders. Even though we're generally the first investors, we're the ones still advising them 10 years later. I think it's because we're the investing analogue of old friends.

HackerRank Bench just added Gemini 4 Argon to the leaderboard of frontier models on real-world, long-horizon SWE tasks. Argon scored 49.7% overall, just behind @AnthropicAI's Opus 5.5 and Fable 5.1. It did so at just a third of the cost of Opus 5.5! 👀 Here's where Argon stands out: it tops the leaderboard for greenfield implementation (63%), building working systems from scratch faster and more completely than every other model we tested, including Opus 5.5. It also leads frontend & interaction fidelity among non-GPT models (63%). Its weak spot: Identity & provisioning integration, where it trails Claude Opus 5 and several others - implementing standards-based identity lifecycle and synchronization across tenant boundaries is still its toughest category. Every task on our benchmark is original, unpublished, and scored by hand-written behavioral verifiers. Find the full report with the leaderboard, cost curves, and task-type breakdowns. hackerrank.com/bench/report

We started @HackerRank a decade ago with the belief that skills matter more than pedigree. That’s still our core ethos, but the skills required to do the job have changed. So, we're tearing down our past and reinventing the company from scratch. Meet Chakra - the future of hiring.

Is there one AI model that’s best at every kind of software engineering? Our results say no. Different models outperform others on different kinds of work. That’s what our new benchmark is built to measure, and today we’re proud to share it with everyone! HackerRank-Bench is a long-horizon benchmark that tests 15 frontier models across complete software systems - from understanding a codebase to building, modifying, and verifying behavior. It shows us which models lead on each type of engineering work, and where they still fall short. Read the full report here: hackerrank.com/bench/report?…
