I think there is always this logical fallacy within the field: My theory, aiming towards X, is better at explaining X than your theory, which aims towards Y. Thus my theory is better.

Anyone who understands reinforcement learning (RL) process knows exactly what's going on here.
OpenAI is abusing the maths community to keep improving their "internal" model.
They are trying to absorb the maths community as a mere effective & cheap verifier for their RL loop.

I think I am right....
There are (at least) two problems in this AI-math business:
1. These models are trained on many of the mathmaticians' works available online without crediting them. 1/3
2. Those who have access to better models will gradually "monopolize the game", this would poison the whole community. 2/3

and the AI−MATH argument is even stranger....first of all, one shall at least ask why a math problem is not solved. Second, that a math problem is not solved does not mean no one is working on it....so why the fuss?

Someone once said to me "everybody is using it, if you don't you gonna get left out". It kinda reminds me of what Chomsky said in his interview with Polychroniou: "The goal of a business in a capitalist society is profit, not human welfare.
That’s an institutional fact: Don’t play the game and you’re out, replaced by someone who will." But since when did mathematics become a "business" ?
And you should really read this piece written by Prof. Matilde Marcolli, whether you're are doing math or not
