I made a free little game called Genius Cards. It's on itch.io and you can play it right in your browser. It started out as a card game with a vagrant in Haunted House. He calls himself a genius, made a deck out of cardboard, and wants to bet bottle caps with you. At first I let him cheat. Then I ripped the cheating out completely. He doesn't cheat anymore, he beats you on strategy alone. So if you lose to him now, he really did outthink you... - The rules are a bit like Texas Hold'em, but I designed the cards myself, and the whole deck is only 17 cards. One card, Genius, is wild. The other, Commoner, means the lower hand wins whenever it shows up. You can also host a table and play a friend. Send them the table code, they paste it and you're in. Nothing to download. The new dev diary is up. What's in it: ・Threw out a half-built puzzle; replaced it with talking to the dead in the house ・New puzzle rule: each type pairs with exactly two items, all 20 collectibles covered ・Items cut from 37 to 20 ・Occlusion integrated — everything behind a wall is black ・Map fully delivered, three more scene CGs finished ・Registered for Steam's October Next Fest Throwing out that puzzle was the biggest thing this time. The spec was finished, art had started on it, and then we tried to actually draw it and nobody could say what the player would be looking at on screen — that isn't "not finished yet," that's a piece of gameplay with no image. What replaced it: you talk to the dead in the house. They mutter to themselves; press them, and the fragments start fitting together, one line at a time.
