V is a Night City legend, but even in the game, that fame doesn't come with immortality. Their assault on Arasaka Tower was downright silent, and in the endings where V survives the public doesn't even know they were responsible. An urban legend, not a folk hero like David.

Given that Edgerunners 2 is set in 2078, I can only hope V found what they were looking for in space or Arizona. It makes sense that a dead legend like David Martinez sticks in the public memory, while V was more of an urban ghost haunting Arasaka until s(he) managed to survive.
