My name is Mahmoud. I’m from Gaza.
No organization. No big team. No steady funding.
Just one person trying to make the streets a little less cruel.
For years, I’ve been rescuing stray dogs and cats from hunger, sickness, and fear.
Feeding them, treating them with what little I have,
and offering temporary safety when there’s nowhere else to go.
In the middle of war and destruction,
my daughter Lilas was born.
She opened her eyes to airstrikes,
just like the puppies opened theirs to the streets.
Maybe that’s why I can’t walk away.
Every fragile life reminds me of her.
And every hard night leaves me asking:
if I stop… who will they have?
This isn’t content.
