A Berkeley chemical engineer who suffered years of unexplained illness discovered through a spy camera from Amazon that her coworker, David Xu, was poisoning her food and water with cadmium, a toxic heavy metal for nearly 18 months between 2017 and 2019. The victim experienced significant health problems and at times required emergency care at a hospital. Newly released video shows Xu appearing to put a substance in her water bottle in 2019. Xu was arrested that year and charged with attempted murder and two counts of poisoning, offenses that could have sent him to prison for life. But under a plea deal, the attempted murder charge and one poisoning count were dropped. Xu pleaded no contest to one felony poisoning charge and received two years of probation, with credit for one day served. He completed probation in March and is now seeking to have his felony conviction dismissed.

After two amazing @robotaxi rides, the third was a dud and dropped us off at the wrong destination. Calling support from the car was worse than no support at all. "Support" keeps telling us we're at our destination. We aren't. We are quite certain that we have not arrived because a) we know where we live, and b) it's the same address that Robotaxi picked us up from and dropped us off at twice the day before. Even the app confirms we're not at our destination because it's showing little white dots telling us to finish our journey by walking. Pro-tip: repeatedly telling a rider that they're at their destination when they're not feels like some crazy levels of gaslighting. And gaslit is not how you want your customers to feel. Then "support" gets a fresh idea. "If you want a different destination you can edit the ride and set a new marker" they tell us. Set a new marker? to where? Somewhere other than our destination? Genius. Five more frustrating minutes go by until it becomes clear, Robotaxi support can't even see our chosen destination. They can't compare where we are with where we're supposed to be – one of the most basic things they'd need to do their job and spot problems. I give up. "Ok, give us a refund and we'll walk," I tell them. But nope, they can't do that. Robotaxi support does have one final idea for us: "You can give feedback in the app," they say. Ah, that's the stuff. Pro-tip #2: there's probably nothing more frustrating for a customer than to tell them to end a call with support about a problem happening at that very moment, so they can... message support. What exactly is the point of this support team that you call from the Robotaxi? No support would be better than impotent, gaslighting, time-wasting, pretend-support. I'm sure @elonmusk would agree that support should be able to see the problem, fix it or offer to send another car, issue a refund, and assure the customer that it was being escalated to someone who could keep it from happening again. "Support" wasn't able to do any of that. They weren't able to do... anything. The Cybercab is an amazing vehicle, the first two rides were flawless, and @Tesla's cameras only, no-Lidar gambit seems to be a winning recipe. But software glitches combined with ridiculously ineffective support is the difference between a ride that is awe-inspiring and one that is maddening.

Starlink upload speeds are typically between 5 and 20 Mbps. Latency ranges between 25 and 60 ms on land, and 100+ ms in certain remote locations. Imagine uploading videos to youtube at 5 mbps. Fiber internet is so much better.

I am liking my new 940mbps down + 940 mbps up Quantum Fiber internet service. It is several times faster than the 5G Verizon Home Internet for the same price.

This Video has recently surfaced from 2024 when Candidate Donald Trump said: “Venezuela Oil is Like Tar. It’s the dirtiest, Worst Oil anywhere in the World”. But that was when Biden was President. Now that Trump is the President it’s actually the Best Oil in the World.

For years, people were told a glass of wine with dinner was good for the heart. What was rarely mentioned: alcohol itself is a Group 1 human carcinogen. Your body converts ethanol into acetaldehyde, a toxic compound that can damage DNA. Alcohol also causes oxidative stress and alters hormones, helping explain its link with breast cancer. It is causally linked to seven cancers: cancers of the mouth, throat, voice box, esophagus, liver and colorectum, plus breast cancer in women. Even one daily drink can raise risk. The increase is modest, but real and it rises with intake. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth produce non-ionizing electromagnetic fields. At normal household exposure, there is no convincing evidence that they cause cancer. One glass does not guarantee cancer, but lower risk is not no risk. If you do not drink, do not start for a supposed heart benefit. If you do, less is safer.
One of these ordinary evening habits is known to raise cancer risk. Can you identify it? A) Sleeping beside a Wi-Fi router B) Using Bluetooth earbuds for hours C) Having a glass of wine with dinner nightly D) Cooking on an induction stove

This Chinese car at a Tesla V4 supercharger maintains 317kW from 10% to 63% and drops to 227kW at 80%. Why can't Tesla and Rivian EVs do that? nitter.cf/RoamingNorway/status/2…
The car is limited and can not reach its advertised charging speed, I'm in talks with the Zeekr engineers. Still fun to see it beat its 10-80% time, and especially doing so on Teslas home turf. It is literally 3 times faster than a LR Tesla.
