They beheaded a statue of Jesus on a war memorial for our dead. They left their Arabic graffiti all over the names of British soldiers who gave their lives. But if you so much as draw a picture of their prophet.

Abdul El-Sayed’s campaign in Michigan summed up everything that’s wrong with identity politics. It was a toxic mix of Muslim self-pity and wild-eyed hatred for Israel. The US left is going down the same Islamo-road as the UK left, says Brendan O’Neill buff.ly/OHdge01

I realised yesterday that what I most admire about Christ's teaching is that it's NOTHING to do with power Whereas Islamic teaching is LARGELY to do with power

Today is the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. Nigeria remains one of the deadliest countries in the world for Christians. The ACLJ recently delivered a critical intervention at the U.N. Human Rights Council, calling attention to the ongoing slaughter of Nigerian Christians. Join us in praying for persecuted Christians worldwide. And sign our petition to help stop the slaughter of Nigerian Christians: aclj.pulse.ly/2oyzmozv3q

Yo - progressives and lefties; if its not Christophobic what is happening in France - why are Churches under guard!
#Francia #IglesiaCatolica #CristianosPerseguidos

Not a story apparently
Nigeria.

Well, another Cardinal has come out with a, shall we say, puzzling take on evangelization. A few years ago, Cardinal Américo Aguiar, at the time auxiliary bishop of Lisbon, said that he and the other organizers of World Youth Day in his hometown had no interest in converting anyone to Christ. Now Cardinal Jean-Paul Vesco of Algeria has opined that “the Church is not there to convert” and “Christians should approach other religions through fraternity rather than seeking conversions.” Excuse me, but…what? Last time I checked, the Founder said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Sure sounds like conversion to me. When St. Paul came to Corinth or Athens or Thessalonica, his purpose was not to listen or to form a discussion group but rather to declare an unnerving message: the euangelion (glad tidings) that Jesus Christ is risen from the dead. So impassioned is he for this work that he says, “I have become all things to all people, that I might by all means save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel” (1 Cor. 9:22); and “If I proclaim the gospel, this gives me no ground for boasting, for an obligation is laid on me, and woe to me if I do not proclaim the gospel” (1 Cor. 9:16)! Moreover, the entire thrust of the Second Vatican Council was toward bringing the Light of Christ to the peoples of the world (Lumen Gentium). And this missionary élan has given rise in the last few decades to the idea of a “new evangelization,” which is to say, a fresh declaration of the Lordship of Christ. Quite obviously, no one thinks that this work of evangelization should be done in a brow-beating, overbearing, or disrespectful manner (proselytization), but for God’s sake, let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater. If I really thought that the Church does not exist to bring people to Christ, then I would resign and get an honest job.

This year alone, more Christians have been killed by Muslims in Nigeria than Gazans in three years of war. Not a single Muslim or pro-Palestinian activist has protested like they do for Gaza. Weird.

Friends, in just two days, Christians were murdered on two continents. On Friday, gunmen opened fire on a funeral at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Karak, Jordan, and killed nine people. On Saturday, armed men attacked Orthodox churches and homes in Oromia, Ethiopia, and killed more than forty. These are not statistics. They are our brothers and sisters, members of the mystical Body of Christ. When Saul set out to destroy the Church, the risen Jesus asked him, “Why are you persecuting me?” The Lord is still being persecuted in these victims of anti-Christian violence. Christianity is by far the most persecuted religion in the world today. Those of us who worship in comfort have to ask what the deaths of these martyrs demand of us. At the very least, they demand that we pray for them, learn their names, press our leaders to act, and refuse to look away. The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.

Anti Christian corporation.
Astonishing. Nine Christians killed at a church service in Jordan. Attackers now arrested. Yesterday @BBCNews did not update about additional deaths AND today stay silent as three are arrested. Why don't they want to talk about it? Imagine the coverage if this was in Israel!

Nine Christians murdered in Jordan. No relentless sharing of their faces. None of you know their names. @bbcnews couldn't even be bothered to tell you that two more died of their wounds. An attack on Christians in Jordan does not fit their narrative. So it must be swept aside.

Where is the outrage for the Nigerian Christians being slaughtered? Why is everyone so quiet? Keep staying silent, keep looking the other way. But remember this. One day, when it’s you being targeted, you might look around for people to stand up for you, only to realise there might not be anybody left. Silence today could come at a price tomorrow.
Nigerian Christians are being slaughtered across the country by Islamic extremists. Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo cries as he buries another 7. There is REAL genocide of Christians across Africa happening at the hands of Islamists and the world is SILENT.

The Catholic Church could effectively disappear from England. And that would not contradict a single promise made by Jesus Christ. That is the extraordinary warning at the heart of a new pastoral letter written by Bishop Philip Egan of Portsmouth in 2022, and it deserves far more attention than it has received. Christ promised that His Church would endure until the end of time. He never promised that the Faith would survive in any particular country. North Africa, once the flourishing Christian civilisation of St Augustine and St Cyprian, provides a sobering historical warning. The Church is indefectible. Catholicism in England is not. The statistics Egan cited were deeply troubling: for every person becoming Catholic, six leave. But what really interests me is his diagnosis. He does not simply blame secularisation or propose another programme of institutional restructuring. He recognises that the Church's own failure to communicate the supernatural reality of the Faith lies at the heart of the problem. He speaks explicitly about the necessity of beauty and solemnity in the liturgy, serious formation, prayer, Confession, Eucharistic adoration and personal conversion. His understanding of evangelisation is refreshingly unambiguous: its immediate purpose is the conversion of souls and its ultimate purpose the transformation of culture through the Gospel. Perhaps his most important observation is this: "We will not be saved by structures." This deserves serious reflection throughout the Church in England and Wales. We can amalgamate parishes, reorganise dioceses, rationalise resources and produce endless pastoral strategies, but none of these things will restore the Faith unless Catholics themselves recover a profound understanding of what they believe, why they believe it, and what Christ demands of them. I would add one further consideration. Genuine renewal also requires the courageous, unambiguous transmission of the entirety of Catholic doctrine, including those teachings which our increasingly secular culture finds most difficult to accept. We cannot evangelise effectively by obscuring the very truths we are commissioned to proclaim. Four years on, I would be interested to know what fruit Bishop Egan's programme has borne. Have we witnessed renewed faith, more conversions, deeper sacramental life and stronger Catholic families, or merely a more efficient management of decline? Because ultimately, the question facing the Church in England is not simply how many churches we can afford to keep open. It is whether we are still forming Catholics who understand that the salvation of souls is the supreme law of the Church.

Paris! "My Son will make His power manifest! Paris, this city soiled by all kinds of crimes, will perish infallibly. Marseilles will be destroyed in a little time. When these things arrive, the disorder will be complete on the earth, the world will be given up to its impious passions." Our Lady of La Salette to Melanie (wrote her secret on July 3, 1851)
