October recap: a month on running the plan — scheduled launches, cache purges, bot defense, server-side tracking, fraud, alert tuning, rollback drills, the order handoff. November is the event itself. The preparation is done. Now you execute it. vicentereyes.org
Four weeks out. Final lock: campaign live and tracking verified, cache purge procedure written, capacity confirmed, alerts tuned, rollback rehearsed, support macros written, fulfillment rehearsed, freeze in force. Anything unticked is this week's job. vicentereyes.org

Mailgun's free tier caps sending at 100 emails a day, and a daily job digest alone can use it up. Moving to Amazon SES meant handling bounces and complaints from day one, with a suppression list and a one-env-var rollback.

Underrated drill: practice your rollback. Everyone has a revert plan on paper; almost nobody has actually run it. Do it once on staging, timed, before peak. Knowing the revert takes four minutes and works is worth more than any amount of confidence. vicentereyes.org
Decide your during-the-sale rules now: when do you pause an ad, extend an offer, or pull a product? Write the thresholds down while you're calm. In the moment, with money moving, everyone decides worse than the version of them that planned. vicentereyes.org
You can build things. Nobody's paying you for it yet.

Plan the week AFTER the sale now. December is when the orders ship, the questions arrive, the returns start, and your team is exhausted. A brilliant Black Friday followed by a shambolic December costs you every customer you just acquired. vicentereyes.org
GiggleGigs now at 129 registered job seekers. Mailgun can only do 100 emails a day. I send targeted emails at 8am to job seekers that have uploaded their resumes that show their skills. Amazon SES does 1,000 emails at a few $$ so it's relatively cheap.

Measurement tip: synthetic speed tests tell you how fast your store is from a data center. Real user monitoring tells you how fast it is for actual customers on real phones and real networks. Those numbers differ a lot. Optimize for the second one. vicentereyes.org
Issue that crashes stores at exactly the wrong moment: the cache stampede. A popular cached page expires, and a thousand simultaneous requests all miss and hit the database at once. Lock the regeneration so one request rebuilds it and the rest wait. vicentereyes.org
My old portfolio was a tidy neubrutalist site: thick borders, hard shadows, a dark-mode toggle. It landed me Oatopia, Rev6 and Digital Trek.
So I made it louder, without making it slower. Here’s how 👇
