For TEENS reading on a third grade level, Newberry High School offers "Charmed", a "high-interest, low-reading level" novel in which a girl is lured by a "great looking school dropout" who "sells her into prostitution."
Because nothing says "we believe in you" like stearing struggling readers toward the track. @alachuaschools, maybe aim a little higher?
(And third grade parents, you might want to keep an eye on what your kid is reading. Just because it's on their level does not mean it's appropriate for them.)

🚨Are you a concerned Utahn and have wondered how you can help or get involved?
Here is an opportunity.
When the state overcharges for public records it's always because they're hiding something, seriously. 👀
I'm helping raise $850 for a new public record request. I just posted about how the state overcharged me $10,000 dollars for records that exposed DEI and other 🥩 dinner scams.
Now they want to charge over $2000 this time, so the request was scaled down but it's still not cheap, so I'm asking for help!
Please donate whatever you can so we can get eyes ASAP on these thousands of critical documents they're holding back on. If we're right we'll need a dump truck for all the dirt that will come out. 🚛 Venmo: @fight4freedom (last 4 numbers of phone - 0990)
That time in 2021 that I paid $10,000 for a GRAMA request because I knew Spencer Cox and state education officials were using COVID relief funds to implement a DEI and LGBTQ agenda in Utah schools.
As an angry and concerned mom watching the mandates and the sudden flood of federal money, I suspected the pandemic was being treated as cover for preferred-pronoun policies, anti-racism training, equity offices, and identity-focused curriculum that parents never voted for. Once the records arrived, the steep price made sense; they showed exactly how the recovery dollars and the post-Floyd moment were leveraged to lock those practices in.
ESSER stands for the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief fund. These were the main federal COVID relief packages for K-12 schools: the first round under the 2020 CARES Act, a second under the CRRSA Act, and the largest under the 2021 American Rescue Plan (ARP ESSER). The money was intended to address learning loss, improve school ventilation and technology, support student mental health, and cover other pandemic-related costs.
Utah received more than $873 million in total ESSER funding across the three rounds; roughly $62 million in ESSER I, $250 million in ESSER II, and $562 million in ARP ESSER with the bulk distributed to local districts and charters based on Title I formulas.
The records I obtained showed that while the funds were labeled for COVID recovery, state and local officials used portions of them to build equity infrastructure, stand up culturally responsive training, and advance related DEI initiatives, exactly the shift I had suspected when I filed the request.
The pages detailed how the Utah State Board of Education planned to distribute ARP ESSER funds, 90 percent based on Title I allocations, with required Maintenance of Equity assurances while embedding equity structures throughout the recovery.
An internal Culturally Responsive and Equitable Workplace Steering Committee was created. Quarterly Equity Leader Meetings, Equity Labs, and ongoing technical assistance to districts were listed as standing mechanisms. Committee notes recorded Chair Benally-Sagg stating that the governor supported the racial-equity and inclusivity training and wanted members to know the governor’s office backed it.
The same records captured return-to-school discussions that treated the pandemic, economic fallout, and post-George Floyd racial unrest as simultaneous crises, with officials describing the need for leaders to examine their own implicit bias before schools could become “anti-racist” or “culturally responsive.”
“Best practices” materials treated preferred names, pronouns, gender-inclusive forms, bathrooms, locker rooms, flags, and stickers as standard markers of support.
Taken together, the documents show COVID recovery funds being used to institutionalize these practices inside Utah’s education system, with explicit state-level support noted from the governor’s office.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Washington State requires those parents who do not have 45 college credits to take a “parent qualifying course” in order to homeschool. This course is meant to teach parents about the laws of Washington on homeschooling compliance and other general homeschooling strategies. For a nonprofit as ourselves to offer this program, we have to partner with a higher-learning institution in which we are currently securing.
As annoying as laws like these are, we are looking for 10 donors/sponsors to launch our in-person parent qualifying course, doing it cheaper and being the first in the State of offering it in other languages.
This is also a great opportunity for educating new homeschoolers on valuable homeschooling skills.
All donations are tax deductible and your support is greatly appreciated. Check out our website and click on “participate”.

Tim Shriver sought us out at the 30th anniversary of CASEL conference to convince us that we could find "common ground" on SEL, just a week after we posted our takedown on his Dignity Index.
It was kind of fascinating watching him try to work his SEL witch doctor juju on us. Didn't work, but bet lots of people fall for it.

Hello Jonathan Haidt, you don’t know me but allow me to give you some context. I have been exposing the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) for 7 years. I have attended their conferences, webinars & even taken their certification requirements to expose them. ASCA partnered with the Southern Poverty Law Center to implement the SPLCs Behavior & Mindset standards into all 50 states & they promote CAIR’s education guidelines. Additionally, ASCA believes that children can consent to child mutilation services & it is their ethical duty to keep this life altering decision from parents UNLESS the child gives the counselor permission to notify their parent. ASCA has found a way to exploit vulnerable children, usurp parental rights, & push their Marxist agenda under the guise of “mental health”.
As a Social Psychologist, is this an acceptable practice on minors? Please explain why you support & sponsor ASCA. nitter.cf/couragehabit/status/20…
Why Does The NEA Love Jonathan Haidt?
@JonHaidt - you claim that cell phones are the only plausible explanation for the massive decline in children's mental & emotional health and academics.
❓We have 3 questions for you❓
1) Why do you have an SEL organization?
2) Why are you sponsoring ASCA's 2026 (and 2024 and 2025) Annual Conference?
3) Why is the NEA featuring your book?
Are you still going to move forward in sponsoring ASCA?
🟥 ASCA is the biggest purveyors of transgender ideology, pronoun enforcement, and keeping secrets from parents.
🟥 ASCA copies their Student Standards Mindsets and Behaviors directly from the SPLC.
🟥 ASCA uses school guidelines from the Islamic group CAIR.

Bad Policies Hurt People
Utahns in CD3 deserve a representative who will NEVER vote for these harmful policies.
I would never vote to fund abortion, pediatric gender-affirming care, DEI mandates, or the “kill switch.”
I would never protect the congressional hush-money slush fund or give pesticide makers immunity from the harm their products cause.
And I would never support warrantless surveillance on Americans.
Bad policies hurt people.
That’s why I’m running, to fight for you every single day. I live here, I work here, and I have real skin in the game; my family, my business, and our shared future in Utah.
No D.C. insiders. No special-interest money. Just a fighter who puts Utah families first.
Celeste gets low scores from conservative groups. I don't like the direction she is taking the Republican party. This is my summary of 5 of her votes.
1. Her vote to fund abortion, DIE, and pediatric gender affirming care, and many other measures added by senate democrats in to the appropriations bill. She could have voted with other republicans to support the Norman Amendment.
2. The Kill Switch. She voted with 57 Republicans and all 268 Democrats to fund Kill Switch research - also agains the amendment to remove funding for the Kill Switch.
3. She voted to move Nancy Mace's HR 1100 to the ethics committee rather than to support the resolution which would have disclosed the member of congress who have used taxpayer funds from the "slush fund" to silence victims. That fund was created for that exact purpose (yes, it is a real thing).
4. She voted against the amendment to remove legal immunity from Bayer and Syngenta - the manufacturer of pesticides using glyphosate. The farm bill was a good bill, this amendment made it so much better. The bill passed, despite Celeste voting against it - one of only 6 republicans to do so.
5. FISA - Maloy voted for the bill even though the amendment to require warrants to surveil Americans failed to pass.
I also touch on the Trump endorsement that was given to all republican incumbents in 2025 before this race was even official. The other candidates for congress opted to minimize that endorsement for ethical reasons. Not Celeste, you have probably received a dozen mailers touting it, and with her $870,000 from the Chris Stewart Pack funded by Anthropic AI, you will see a whole lot more. Maybe that is why she is also pro data center regardless of transparency.

This post by @alexisence is flat-out false. Utah's HB257 wasn't a restriction on men in women's bathrooms, it was a permission slip. It's been 842 days since the Fakest Red state in the nation passed a bill that lets men be in bathrooms with women and girls.
The RINOs who ran this bill or mislead the public about it are a joke.

This is an OUTRAGEOUS abuse of power! SLGOP needs to unseat this authoritarian chair who CLEARLY DOES NOT appreciate or understand what Liberty means. Maybe he should read the platform. He is a rogue chair that is accusing anyone who does not fall in line with his rule to be outsiders when he is the epitome of what he accuses those he has ousted to be. He will be gone soon and then SLCGOP can undo the great damage he has caused.

We ran first-of-its-kind legislation in Utah this year to prohibit SEL character tracking and grading. Trevor Lee's HB399, Prohibitions Against Character Tracking and Grading (The PACT Act), can serve as model legislation for other states that are more serious than Utah is about tackling the psychological warfare on children conducted through subjective competency-based assessments.

It’s almost June! That time of year when we display our personal beliefs on gender, sexuality, identity, and family.
2026 will be the fourth year since my husband and I made The Family Proclamation into a flag representing our religious freedom.
We did this because we personally experienced the subversion of our family’s religious freedom by the state. When “pride” and its accompanying doctrines were forced on my children in Murray UT’s public schools in 2021, I felt compelled to do everything I could to take a stand against it.
In 2023, I felt inspired to create this flag and display it in response to “pride month.” I know other flags have been made, but The Family Proclamation is the only flag that directly demonstrates why pride ideologies are antithetical to my religious beliefs, as I so eloquently proved in Utah’s 3rd District Court last year (thanks, Kennedy Nate of RQN 😘)!
Let me make this clear: my family’s religious freedom was violated by the state in the name of LGBTQ+ Pride. Thus, my response necessitated a clear demonstration of why and how “Pride” violates my religious beliefs. And that is why I needed (and created) this flag in response to “Pride.” Try as they might, no other flags do the job for this issue specifically.
Displaying my religious beliefs on gender, sexuality, and identity is not an insult to anyone, and if you see it that way, then sorry, but you failed to comprehend the assignment. Religious freedom is protected by the First Amendment and my rights don’t evaporate just because someone is offended by them.
If you love truth and want to defend your religious right to believe in 2 genders, marriage between a man and a woman, and our identity as children of God, feel free to join me and my husband again this June in displaying The Family Proclamation.
We have flags available at cost. Venmo $15 with your address and we will get a flag shipped to you asap. Link in comments.
