To change your programming you have to actually know you're a program and most people simply don't. Most people see the world through their model and mistake that model for actual, intrinsic reality. They’re running a fixed and inflexible program, like a NPC in a video game.

Bitcoin’s greatest irony: Millions of people buy it to escape the financial system, then obsessively measure their freedom in dollars. They don’t want independence. They want to get rich enough that dependence stops bothering them.

Mad genius: you buy digital cards pack (say $30). You’re hoping to get rare/valuable pokemon cards inside. You tap the screen, pack opens, and…nothing. No great cards. But wait! It’s not over! They’ll give you $24 to buy the pack back from you. Want your cash? You say yes. Now spend an extra $6 and buy another pack. Rinse and repeat.

🚨 PARAGUAY 🇵🇾 RIOTS IN THE STREETS AFTER 3 MILLION PEOPLE GOT LOCKED OUT OF THEIR OWN MONEY The central bank shut down Ueno Bank, one of the biggest banks in the country. 3 million customers. About 60% of all adults in Paraguay. Salaries. Pensions. Savings. FROZEN. No app. No cards. No ATMs. Even $380 million of the state pension fund is stuck inside. Covid locked people inside their homes. This locked them out of their own money. Then it turned POLITICAL. President Santiago Peña, the right-wing friend of Milei and Kast, was a SHAREHOLDER in Ueno's holding company until 2025. And the man he picked to run the central bank in 2023 used to run Ueno. Within 24 hours: • the central bank chief signed his resignation after Peña asked for it • Ueno's CEO handed himself in to police, 5 more executives DETAINED • crowds in central Asunción demanding Peña's exit • the opposition pushing to impeach him The last time Paraguay's banks broke, in 1995, more than half of them went down. If you want the parts of this story Paraguay's government would rather you never heard, follow me.

We have two future horizons: One: 1984 style techno-communism. The state decides what you own, what you say and what you think. Two: techno-capitalism with common sense. True capitalism and abundance that liberates instead of enslaves. Those who build keep what they built and empower others. Same tech. Two futures.

For 47 years America tried regime change in Iran. Iran just pulled it off in America. Without firing a shot.

Obsession + pattern recognition + not giving a f*ck + delusional optimism is the highest form of intelligence.

Have you noticed how “do what you love” became “find a way to invoice for it.” A hobby used to be proof you had a life outside work. Now it’s a startup that hasn’t disappointed you yet.

Just to be crystal clear, @profgalloway is literally suggesting that Elon Musk should be put up against a wall and shot. This is absolutely insane. If this isn’t fascistic I don’t know what is. Regretting I ever spent money and time on his books.

Let students use whatever AI they want. Then make them defend their answers without it. If you can’t explain what you submitted, you didn’t learn it. You rented an intelligence.

People love to say if only experts ran things. Well, Serbia just gave experts 141 of 250 seats and zero excuses. Its gonna be a great experiment. Hypothesis: put PhDs in charge of the country instead of politicians. Either brains beat the system, or we learn the system eats brains for breakfast. If it works, every career politician in Europe is exposed as dead weight. If it fails, we'll know intelligence was never the missing ingredient. Spine was. science.org/content/article/…

Super Intelligence requires colossal capital we don't have.

The modern flex isn’t owning a $200k car. It’s being able to turn your phone off for 3 days without your income, relationships, or identity collapsing. A lot of successful people are on very expensive leashes. One paycheck away from their whole life collapsing.

Want to know how young people become programmable? Teach them that being a good person isn’t about what they DO. It’s about what they BELIEVE. Reward the right opinions. Punish the wrong ones. Works because its easy. No achievements required. No independent thinking necessary. Congratulations. You’ve created a generation that mistakes obedience for virtue and conformity for courage.

Weekend hack: HackerTube. I was annoyed with YouTube's recommendations so I had Claude filter down 43M comments over 20 years of HN to 6,454 videos that keep being recommended. *Significantly* better viewing experience, ~2 hours with Opus 5.5: hackertube.org/ - Excellent recs without any logins (state is kept in local browser session) - Thumbnail is a representative frame from middle of the video instead of the super duper A/B test hyper-optimized user uploads - Underlying data from the comment analysis as one zip file, point your Claude at it and ask for your own version - HackerTube Longs ✊ A bit more on the process: I use Claude Code (desktop app for Mac), Opus 5.5 on Medium effort as my default. I only talk to Claude and have it do everything, the only "manual work" I helped with in tandem was in the browser (reminiscent of MenuGen): 1) I had to create some kind of API key from Google Cloud UI to query YouTube for video metadata, 2) I booted up a VPS box for serving and 3) I bought the domain name. Once the box was up I gave Claude the IP and told it update, secure, harden, deploy and optimize the code, and it did the whole thing. Many awesome projects that would have normally taken weeks/months even can now be few-shotted for breakfast. What else are we not thinking of.

Failure is good learning experience when you have rich parents or money to burn. For everyone else, it might mean losing your home. Want more entrepreneurs? Make failure survivable. That's probably more effective than another billionaire telling people to take risks.

There’s no stopping advancement because there’s no stopping to the human ego. Combine that with the curiosity and desire to explore and we are unstoppable. If we can imagine it, we WILL create it. And the consequences of our creations will be a reflection of humanity itself.
