Ty Jerome in the OT loss to the Pelicans tonight: 40 points (29 in 2nd half) 5 rebounds 5 assists 2 steals 14-of-22 FG 5-of-6 3PT 7-of-8 FT Memphis drops their first game of the year after starting the season 6-0.

Ty Jerome’s story isn’t about flash or fame. It’s about resilience 😤 After a series of devastating injuries: hip surgery in high school, groin surgery with the Thunder, and a season-ending ankle operation in 2024, Jerome was left searching for purpose while the game moved on without him… But even at his lowest, he wasn’t alone. Steph Curry, who mentored Jerome during their time together with the Warriors, became a lifeline. Curry shared his personal support team and specialized support braces that he has worn for 10 years, checked in regularly, and offered more than just advice. He offered belief 🙌 And it all paid off in his explosive Grizzlies season-opening debut yesterday: 🔸 45 points 🔸 17-25 FG 🔸 5-10 3PT Jerome now holds the record for the most points scored by a Grizzlies player in a season opener, beating the previous record of 44 set by Ja Morant. He fought his way back from the margins of the league, and in doing so, earned a place not just on the floor, but in the heart of Memphis’s new era. And for that, he deserves maximum respect 🫡
