Grassroots leaders listen, show up and stay accountable. Thank you, Kisumu, for raising your voices at the SUN Elections. Every voice mattered. Who leads this way in your community? Tell us how they make a difference. #SUNElectionsKisumu #GrassrootsLeadership #KataaUkatili

In Siaya County, we are seeing what is possible when communities are given the tools and opportunities to shape their own future. Through SHOFCO, we have constructed 45 water pans to improve access to water for domestic use and support smart agriculture in dry areas. We are also sponsoring 600 girls through full scholarships because every girl deserves the opportunity to learn and achieve her full potential. We have established 3-storey community centres in five of Siaya’s six sub-counties that provide spaces for skills training, library, computer lab, community hall, and other community programs. We have also supported our SHOFCO Urban Network (SUN) members with buses to generate income and partnered with community-based organisations to implement community-led development projects that generate jobs for young people. For me, development is about giving people the skills, resources and opportunities to build better futures for themselves and their communities. On Saturday, during the launch of our new SHOFCO Ugunja Community Centre where I met students from various schools already using our new library and more than 20 young women who have enrolled in our dressmaking program. #CommunityEmpowerment

I am pleased to announce the opening of our new SHOFCO Sacco branch in Siaya County. With over 50,000 members, SHOFCO Sacco continues to grow as a platform where ordinary Kenyans can save, access affordable credit, invest in their futures and build sustainable livelihoods. Our goal is to ensure that people, especially those in underserved communities, have access to financial services that enable them to pursue their ambitions and improve their lives. #SHOFCOSacco

Public participation isn't a favor. It's a right. Kenya's Constitution (Art. 10, 174, 196) puts people's participation and accountability at the heart of governance. Ask: What's in the ward budget? When's the next public forum? #SUNElectionsKisumu

5 questions for any leader: 1. What's planned and budgeted for our ward? 2. When is the next public participation meeting? 3. How will you report back? 4. Are GBV survivor services (safe houses, legal aid, counselling) funded? 5. How can we follow up between meetings?

Good governance and ending GBV are one fight. A leader who listens, accounts for resources and protects the vulnerable builds a safer county. Article. 29 guarantees freedom from violence, public or private. Choose dignity. Reject violence. #KataaUkatili

This #InternationalDayOfTheGirl, SHOFCO joined partners in Limuru for a girls’ mentorship session on menstrual health, self-esteem and their rights. Our message: girls' future is in the classroom, not early marriage. Let’s #EndChildMarriage and invest in girls’ rights.
