I am trying to understand why Shabia did this to Tigray. I see nothing but hate.
Tigray was at war with Abiy Ahmed's government. Eritrea may intervene to help anyone when it serves its interests, just as TPLF are doing in Sudan. But I assure you, the TPLF combatants fighting in Sudan alongside al-Burhan would never commit gang rape and deliberately infect people with HIV.
Russians fight in Mali, Americans fight anywhere outside America based on their national interests. I wouldn't have minded Isaias alongside Abiy to fight Tigray, but the gang rapes, sexual harassment, and all kinds of crimes committed by Shabia and Fano are different. It was not only against women and girls, but also against boys and men.
I haven't forget what the federal army did. I can't forget the blockade, the mass killing and indiscriminate shelling.

A captured Eritrean soldier from the recent conflict in Tigray appears to admit to committing sexual assaults across northern Tigray, echoing a disturbing and well-documented pattern of sexual violence used as a weapon of war by members of the Eritrean Defence Forces (EDF), commonly known as Shabia, atrocities extensively investigated and documented by Amnesty International.

Humanitarian assistant and return of IDPs must be a priority alongside the conditions to enable their safe return and territorial integrity of Tigray. This is immediate prerequisite for a lasting peace.
Internally displaced persons (IDPs) from western Tigray who are sheltered at Hitsast camp are enduring a poignant humanitarian crisis. Their shelters havent been renovated in the last five year and irregular monthly food rations they used to receive has been completely discontinued. The lack of medical supply, critical food shortage coupled with inadequate access to clean water have left children, pregnant and lactating mothers and elders at risk of death and exposed to various communicable diseases.
I urge all concerned bodies and humanitarian organizations to provide timely, coordinated assistance before it’s too late.
