This question is funnier than you might think. Back in 1945 (so the entry into the "current era"), the US under FDR strongly stated that attachment to all the "old things" was fundamentally unacceptable, that the USA would lead to a new world and that remaining attached to the old was some sort of "proof of being unable to understand what the new world would be about". Of course because he said that in the context of a world war, where showing that you "had not understood" basically was resistance/being counted as an enemy. This is also why the Americans so quickly shifted from "fighting nazism" to "fighting nationalism" because defending your nations and peoples in the wake of the New Roosevelt World was just unacceptable. This mentality NEVER left the American Left and affected just as much the American Right as it did the conquered countries. I always say that "the Republican Party died at X", but the real dates are: - it died with GW Bush when they stopped pretending to be about less government - it died with Reagan when they stopped to pretend to fight leftism and erasure of old WASP America - it died with Nixon and Eisenhower who basically caved in to nearly every leftist policy even when they disagreed - it died with Coolidge, because Coolidge was the last Republican President before FDR (well technically Hoover but he was more of an industrial accident) Everywhere else in the world, ever since 45, the Americans have acted like they were entitled to pushing people to their Left's ways. That's never changed and they did it to themselves all the way too. Naturally when you can't conserve any of your traditions, principles, ideas, culture etc, the only thing left to conserve is a pretense of it. Which is why you saw Republicans talk about morality in the past 40 years while breaking records of gay whore concentrations at every single Republican Party caucus ever since. Technically you could say that they "conserved" money but even that's not true, on the contrary they destroyed all the rules of good economics and empowered the finance class to create a modern day oligarchy. The conservatives in an American world have the right to conserve the appearance of conserving things, anything else is too much. And Roosevelt, just like Wilson before him, was a profoundly evil, monstrous cunt.
