Retail sales in October rose 1.3% from the previous month, above estimates of 1.2% growth. Overall, this shows the resiliency of the U.S. consumer in the wake of increasing recession fears.
Gains were led by purchases of motor vehicles, food and beverage, furniture, and gas.
