In under three years I turned one local newsletter into a 7-figure holding company (and I have had a freaking blast doing it). Events. Board games. Real estate. New businesses. Merch. All of it grew out of a single newsletter that I send once a week. Most folks who start a newsletter never get here. Not because they can't (they ABSOLUTELY can) — but because they're stuck thinking a newsletter is just a newsletter. It's not. It's a platform — and you can build almost anything on top of it. Once you see the model, you can't unsee it. I just put out the full breakdown — and most importantly, you can do this for all types of media companies. Local, sports, AI, pets, doesn't matter. They're all just platforms. Full video's up — link in the comments. Hope you enjoy and get inspired.

Rishi, if you're a senior advisor at Anthropic you must know that LLMs are at a point of diminishing returns from scaling and offer no route to AGI, much less ASI. And other AI technologies are still on the darn drawing board (hence the sudden hogwash about needing to slow down.)

Every hungry nation in Europe invented the same dinner without ever comparing notes, and the fact that they all arrived at it is the most useful thing anybody could tell you about food. The Welsh call it cawl. Mutton, leek, swede, parsnip, potato, in one pot, four hours, drunk as broth first and eaten as meat and vegetables second. The Scots call it Scotch broth and start it with a piece of neck. The French call it pot-au-feu and are precious about it. Piedmont does bollito misto with seven cuts, Castile does cocido with the chickpeas, Poland does rosół, Ireland does the bacon and cabbage, Hungary does gulyás, Portugal does cozido, and the Jewish kitchens of eastern Europe did cholent overnight on a Friday because the fire could not be touched on Saturday. Nobody circulated a memo. A shepherd in Snowdonia in 1880 and a peasant in Burgundy in 1880 had never heard of each other, could not have read a recipe if one existed, and cooked the same dinner. They arrived at it because there is only one right answer, and they all had the same problem. You have an old animal, because a young one is worth more alive. You have the cheap end of it, the neck and the shin and the shank, because the good cuts are sold. You have roots, because roots are what keeps in a cellar. You have one pot, one fire, no thermometer, and people coming in cold. The answer is always the same. Tough cut, long heat, roots, two courses out of one pot. And it is always the same because it is not a culinary answer, it is a structural one. An old working animal carries collagen through the neck and shanks, and collagen at low heat over hours becomes gelatine, which gives the broth body and makes it sit in you for six hours instead of one. Years on grass lay down fat, and the fat carries what is fat-soluble out of the marrow and into the pot. Every mineral that leaves the meat and the roots stays in the water, which is why the water is served first and drunk on its own. Not one of those cooks knew a word of that. They knew the broth kept the family well, and they were right, and being right without knowing why is what tradition actually is. That formula is the most tested piece of nutritional advice in human history. It was run independently, in dozens of countries, across hundreds of years, by populations who could not afford to be wrong, and it produced the same result everywhere. No committee has ever assembled evidence at that scale and none ever will, because you cannot run a trial with six hundred years and a continent in it. Set against that, the dietary advice of the last fifty years is a rounding error, and it has told us the opposite on nearly every point. Avoid the fat. Avoid the old animal. Buy the lean fillet and the boneless breast, which are the two cuts that will not make any of these dishes, because there is nothing in them to dissolve. The mutton is still on the slab if you ask for it by name, or hogget if the butcher looks blank. The swede is forty pence. The leeks are in every shop in the country. The pot is in your cupboard. The only thing missing is the woman who would have started it at eleven in the morning without being asked, and told you off for taking the lid off. That job is open.

By the way, I like the clear 'it's all gone wrong since Thatcher, austerity and Brexit' narrative. It has. Hearing it from Andy Burnham in words and in parliament is a fkin relief for everyone who's been shouting into the void for so long👏

JENSEN HUANG WAS ASKED ABOUT A WEALTH TAX THAT COULD COST HIM $8 BILLION The interviewer expected him to be worried. He wasn't. His response surprised the room: "I prefer lower taxes. However, I also don't mind paying taxes. I love this country. We don't exercise that many tax loopholes. Once a year we get a bill, we pay it, and it's big. I never once thought about it. We love this country. That's our way of giving back." He went on to say he and his wife chose California for the schools and the culture, not for tax arbitrage. "I would love that they would apply $10,000 of the taxes that I paid to fix that one pothole on the 101. If they let me, I'll do it myself."

Today, we're shipping the new Resend email editor, extended by AI. What I love about this is that you can BYOA (Bring Your Own Agent). There's a built-in LLM that can help you draft an email based on an URL. But you can just MCP into the editor too.

One of my neighbors kid went to trade school for HVAC at 18. His parents were embarrassed because everyone around us, college is the only option promoted. He spent $6k and started at $65k while his friends were still in school. At 25 he got his contractor license. At 27 he opened his own shop. Last year his company did $2.1 million in revenue with 3 trucks. His friends just started to pay off their student loans. Now, my neighbors cant stop bragging about their son who also is our neighborhood HVAC tech. Day 96 tagging @mikeroweworks to let everyone know that we need more kids like this.

MemPalace just crossed 42K stars and 5.4K forks. v3.1.0 already shipped. Milla and I have barely slept this week. The response has been overwhelming in the best way. We’re running on parallel tracks right now - fixing bugs and reviewing PRs from the community on one side, building the next generation of storage and retrieval on the other. Both are getting better fast. To everyone who has starred, forked, opened issues, submitted PRs, or just sent kind words - thank you. This thing belongs to all of us now. More soon. ✨ github.org/mempalace/mempala…

Fifth Element is one of my favorite movies of all time, and now LeeLoo (Milla Jovavich) is vibe coding AI memory tools. I cloned MemPalace and spun it up, then my AI agents built an open source web frontend for it so I can view the knowledge graph. github.com/tomsalphaclawbot/…
My friend Milla Jovovich and I spent months creating an AI memory system with Claude. It just posted a perfect score on the standard benchmark - beating every product in the space, free or paid. It's called MemPalace, and it works nothing like anything else out there. Instead of sending your data to a background agent in the cloud, it mines your conversations locally and organizes them into a palace - a structured architecture with wings, halls, and rooms that mirrors how human memory actually works. Here is what that gets you: → Your AI knows who you are before you type a single word - family, projects, preferences, loaded in ~120 tokens → Palace architecture organizes memories by domain and type - not a flat list of facts, a navigable structure → Semantic search across months of conversations finds the answer in position 1 or 2 → AAAK compression fits your entire life context into 120 tokens - 30x lossless compression any LLM reads natively → Contradiction detection catches wrong names, wrong pronouns, wrong ages before you ever see them The benchmarks: 100% recall on LongMemEval — first perfect score ever recorded. 500/500 questions. Every question type at 100%. 92.9% on ConvoMem — more than 2x Mem0's score. 100% on LoCoMo — every multi-hop reasoning category, including temporal inference which stumps most systems. No API key. No cloud. No subscription. One dependency. Runs on your machine. Your memories never leave. MIT License. 100% Open Source. github.com/milla-jovovich/me…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The claimed 100% LongMemEval score uses targeted fixes for the 3 failing questions and LLM reranking (held-out score: 98.4%). The 100% LoCoMo score uses top-k=50 exceeding session count with reranking (honest top-10 no rerank: 88.9%). github.com/milla-jovovich…
