ALT As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 Campaign, an awareness programme was organised at ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (ICAR-CTCRI), Thiruvananthapuram, on 23 September 2026, focusing on the prescribed Jan Bhagidari Advocacy Drives: (i) 4-Way Waste Segregation under SWM Rules, 2026 – “Ab Do Nahi Chaar”, (ii) Home Composting, (iii) Say No to Plastics, and (iv) Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (RRR) Drives, in accordance with the date-wise action plan of the campaign. The programme was organised in collaboration with Suchitwa Mission, Kerala. Smt. Suja P.S Assistant District Coordinator, Suchitwa Mission, Keralam, conducted this awareness drive on waste reduction, reuse and recycling, with special emphasis on reducing the use of plastics. She highlighted practical measures such as home composting, prevention of littering in public places, avoiding single-use plastics, promotion of cloth bags, use of reusable steel/glass bottles for water and beverages

ALT As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026, a cleanliness and awareness programme was organised on 22 September 2026, with emphasis on promoting cleanliness and sustainable practices in office and campus premises. As part of the programme, a special cleanliness drive was undertaken in the premises of the Biochar Unit and the campus area surrounding the Technology Incubation Centre of the institute. Staff members, students and housekeeping/cleaning staff actively participated in cleaning the identified areas. During the programme, participants were also sensitised to good cleanliness and environmentally responsible practices in offices and on the campus. Awareness was created on waste segregation, recycling, and the adoption of clean-desk and clean-campus practices.

ALT In line with the activities prescribed under “Engagement with School Children” in the campaign guidelines, slogan-writing and Swachhata quiz competitions were organized for students of Classes VIII to X. The competitions focused on themes related to the Swachh Bharat Mission, cleanliness, sanitation and responsible waste management, providing an interactive platform for students to express their ideas and enhance their awareness of cleanliness and hygiene. An interactive awareness session involving students, school teachers, volunteers, scientists and staff of ICAR-CTCRI was also organized. The interaction highlighted the importance of cleanliness, sanitation, waste management and responsible participation in maintaining clean and healthy surroundings. Students were encouraged to adopt and promote “Swachhata practices” in their school, homes and communities.
