A couple of short prompts later:
These are either loss-leading to build reputation, subsidized by other business, or extracting ~0.01-0.04 SOL/slot in value not captured by standard MEV (private order flow, sandwich profits, etc.)
Stake marketplaces (@MarinadeFinance, @pyefinance, etc) have current bids per 1k/stake at ~0.03 SOL (~0.5% excess APY).
Looking at participating validators' stake and fee tiers, ~83% appear to be bidding at a loss.
Still remember naively skipping past this image in high-school physics, unaware I'd spend the rest of my life looking it up on a weekly basis🤦♂️
