Nine out of ten AI pilots reportedly never reach production. Model quality stopped being the constraint a while ago. They stall in plumbing humans laid before AI existed: data nobody cleaned, systems never built to connect, governance written for human sign-off.

TechGig also flags constant model reassessments as a drag. Makes sense. Swapping models is the one change a team can ship in a quarter, so every stalled pilot gets a new model, while the data and integration work behind the 'Autonomy Gap' waits for budget.

Google is building a robot medic for NASA with Johnson Space Center and JPL. It runs on CMO-DA, a decision-support system with its models onboard, because a crew officer treating an injury can't wait out deep-space communication lag for a doctor on Earth.

So. The robot also hauls cargo and does maintenance, but the medical half is the part that travels back to Earth. A ship far from home and a farmhouse with one bar of signal share the same constraint, and Google is solving the harder case first.

Eko's CORE 300 just got FDA 510(k) clearance, and the detail I keep coming back to is that you can drain the battery to zero and the chestpiece still works as a plain acoustic stethoscope. Twist it for digital: up to 35x amplification with active noise cancellation.

That's the shape I'd want for most clinical AI. A narrow model trained on one kind of sound, built into a tool clinicians already hold, with the acoustic stethoscope still underneath for when the electronics quit. Cleared for adults and kids.

The Guardian (24 Oct) names AI slop as the tipping point for a culture stuck in sameness, and calls for human-made art, writing, music and design. I'd move the tipping point back years, to the influencer feed.

Influencers spent years staging lives that never existed, polished toward one look the algorithm rewarded. The models learned beauty there. So the handmade return the essay wants must leave the staged feed behind too, or we get prettier sameness made slowly by hand.

Radical Numerics ran Omnii-1 to design bacteriophages against bacteria isolated from one patient's antibiotic-resistant infection. The patient got the dose under compassionate use. First human treated with a virus no evolution wrote.

Compassionate use is how a therapy reaches a body before regulators have a category for it. The infection was never named, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa appears only as a test target. The line between personalized medicine and n-of-1 experiment gets drawn by whoever runs the case.

Nature just published the anatomy of a personal health agent, and it splits the job three ways: a data science agent reading your wearable history, a domain expert agent, and a coach. Mixture of experts, applied at the agent level. Makes perfect sense.

They tested the split on 11 benchmark tasks, with 7,000+ annotations and 1,350 hours of expert and user effort. Symptom assessment is one of its four user journeys, which means someone has to validate the agent and carry the liability when it gets one wrong.

Alex Gibney made a documentary about Elon Musk. X blocked its ads, and Musk threatened legal action over what he called a 'hit piece', which is about the best free trailer a documentary can get. Meta and YouTube banned the ads too, then reversed. TikTok kept its ban.

Musk is one of four 2026 films aimed at Silicon Valley, alongside The Social Reckoning, You Can See Everything and Artificial. Movies have picked fights with power for a century, and this time the targets also run the channels where the trailers would have played.

Time just gave Technogym Checkup a special mention in its Best Inventions 2026, for an AI that scores your physical and cognitive state and then hands those numbers to the gym machines. I already log every set and let a model write my routine. Smart gear is next.

The Milan-listed company already has machines in gyms worldwide, so every Checkup score feeds a subscription platform billed on top of hardware it has sold.

I've slept with my Apple Watch on for years, mostly to watch a sleep score wobble. Bilal et al. (Nature Communications) and Thapa et al. (Nature Medicine) now show AI can pull disease and mortality signals out of a single night that standard sleep metrics miss.

So. Sleep changes can show up before a diagnosis does. That turns years of nightly wrist data into an archive of the months before something went wrong, and I want that archive to exist. Nobody has settled who owns it or who gets to read it before a doctor does.

"Will U Be There?" is now available. It's not a daily app. You might open it 3 times a year. But those times? You'll be glad it exists - because it helped you meet a friend. I think real presence matters. And sometimes you just need a little nudge to make it happen.

Know when friends are nearby. Add your upcoming trips, connect with friends, and instantly discover who'll be in the same city at the same time - whether they're traveling, live there, or hosting. No more missed connections. willubethere.app/
