🎮 SOCOM II LEGACY LAUNCH: 12 DAYS TO GO!
The maps. The sounds. The teamwork.
It’s almost time to get the old crew back together!
📅 Our first community playtest is planned for November 1, 2026.
We’ve been working on gameplay, menus, audio, and servers, getting everything ready for you to jump in and help us put it to the test.
🗺️ FOUR MAPS FOR THE PLAYTEST
• Frostfire
• Vigilance
• Crossroads
• Night Stalker
From weapon selection and Weapon Exchange to taunts, victory dances, voice chat, clans, and player stats, we’re working to bring back those details that made SOCOM II special.
The goal is to preserve the gunplay, movement, pacing, and teamwork we remember, with the convenience of playing through your browser.
💿 Bring your own SOCOM II ISO.
🎮 Connect your controller.
🖥️ Start with Chrome on Windows or Mac.
You can try the demo now and get set up before the playtest. Your feedback will help us find what needs fixing and keep the original feel at the center of the project.

SOCOM II Legacy Progression System? Let’s Hear Your Thoughts.
We’ve been discussing ways to give players more character choices using models from the original game. It would be cool to have something to work toward and a little more variety in who you see running around the map.
To be clear, the locked characters you’re seeing are placeholders. We haven’t decided how unlocks would work or whether we’ll use a progression system.
Some ideas we’ve discussed include rank milestones, rescuing hostages, kills, weapon mastery and participating in community nights. We could also make the characters available from the start. First, we’re putting together an inventory of the models and checking where they belong.
I personally like the idea of earning a character that shows you’ve put some time into the game. But we know the original SOCOM experience matters, and we want the community involved before we settle on anything.
Would you want characters tied to rank, gameplay achievements, or community events? Or would you prefer everything unlocked?
Have something to add?

24/7 Respawn in SOCOM II Legacy
We’re building lobbies that have 24/7 Frostfire Respawn. Bots fill the open spots, and when a player joins, a bot is removed to make room. You can also choose the number of bots before starting a game of your own.
They’re already working well in Respawn. As we improve their teamwork and ability to handle objectives, we plan to add a seperate 24/7 Breach, Suppression, and Extraction room.
The idea is simple: have somewhere to play without waiting for a full room. Get some practice in, play a few rounds after work, or send your friends an invite via text or whatsapp.

🛠️A Taste of What’s Possible With SOCOM Forge.
We’ve been talking more about SOCOM Forge and how we want the community to take this project to new levels once the code is open source and Forge is available.
One of our devs, Phil, has put together #Shipment Respawn, and we’d love for you to jump in and try it for fun! This is just a taste of what can be created in a few days, and we’re excited to see what you guys come up with.
It’s running on Phil’s personal server for now while we work toward bringing our community’s mods together on Thunderstore. We’ve received positive feedback on our application and are working through the next steps.
The idea is to create something in Forge, test it with your friends, and share it on thunderstore when you’re ready so the rest of the community can download it and play.
We want to give SOCOM players the tools to bring their own ideas to life. This is only the beginning!

A question we keep getting is: “What’s the difference between this and already playing on an emulator?”
The biggest difference is accessibility and how it’s built. With Legacy, you open the website, select your own SOCOM II ISO, connect your controller, and play. No emulator setup. We’re also building features like shareable lobby links so getting friends into a match is easier.
An emulator runs the original PS2 game. Legacy uses our custom browser engine to read the original maps, models, sounds, and game data. That gives us direct control over the gameplay and multiplayer systems we’re developing, so we can investigate bugs, test improvements, and keep working to preserve the original feel.
One intentional difference is that we simulate the game logic on our server instead of relying on a player’s device to host that simulation. This can make matches more consistent, reduce dependence on an individual host’s connection, and give us more control over validating player actions and addressing cheating. It also opens the door to features like replays.
The goal is to preserve SOCOM II’s gunplay, movement, pacing, and teamwork while making it easier to access, maintain, and enjoy together.

Lets talk about bots.
Ever since I was a little kid playing SOCOM, I wished we could fill a room with bots and play whenever I wanted. Now we’re making that happen!
We’ve added 1–15 bots to Respawn on Frostfire and Vigilance, and they’re already playing great. You can jump in, practice, or have some fun without waiting for a full room.
Next, we’re working on their objective behavior, teaching them to defuse bombs and escort hostages, with the goal of supporting every game mode. As we gather more live playtest data, we’ll use it to keep improving how they move, fight, and handle objectives.
This is why open source and tools like SOCOM Forge mean so much to us. Giving the community access to the code and tools creates opportunities to build features we’ve wanted for years and finally make those ideas a reality.
Huge thank-you to Fuse and Phil for all their work bringing the bots to life! 🎮🔥

SOCOM II Forge
Completely reverse-engineered from the original SOCOM II engine. (Very Important)
Here’s a look at some of the day and night changes we’ve been experimenting with in SOCOM II Legacy!
This is a big part of why we’re committed to open source. We want to give SOCOM players the tools to build on the project, explore their own ideas, and help us shape what comes next. Opening the code lets other developers contribute fixes, add features, and create things we haven’t even thought of. Over the next few days before launch we have a good bit of Socom Forge content we'll be showing you.
🛠️ That’s the idea behind SOCOM Forge.
Create your own maps, experiment with lighting, move objects around, and share your creations so other players can load them into Legacy. We want the community to have the tools to turn “imagine if we could…” into something everyone can try.
We’re currently applying for a SOCOM II Legacy community on Thunderstore, a place to share, discover, and download mods. If approved, it could give everyone a central home for their Forge creations.
💬 Want to show your support or help?
Join the Thunderstore Discord, head to #gamerequests, and look for our SOCOM II Legacy request. Leave a reaction or a comment about what you’d like to create or play! It helps show the community’s interest, and we’d be grateful for your support.

🎮 SOCOM II Is Back Online! 8 Days Until Launch!
November 1 is getting close, and we now support players in Asia and the UK! We’re excited to get more of the SOCOM community playing together.
We’ve been testing, fixing bugs, and getting everything ready. Our first round of patch notes is coming soon, so you can see what we’ve been working on!
LET’S GOOOOOO!

📱 Why Mobile Play and Invite Links Matter to Us
One of our goals with SOCOM II Legacy is to make it easier to play with friends who haven’t touched SOCOM in years. They might not have a gaming PC or want to spend time setting up an emulator or software, but many already have a phone and a controller.
With our servers running the matches, players can connect through the website from a supported phone or computer. Everyone joins the same match, and nobody in the group needs to download and run a separate hosting program.
That’s where invite links come in. You create a room and send your friends its link through a text or WhatsApp message. They open it in their browser and join you after signing in. There’s no separate game app or emulator to install.
Your phone still handles displaying the game and your controller inputs. Our server handles the shared match, keeping everyone’s actions and the game state synchronized.
The idea is simple: make getting back into SOCOM with your friends convenient enough that you actually do it. Send the link, and get a few rounds in together or mabey you have a quick minute to play a few rounds its never been easier.
We're currently testing Edge Browser on XBOX, more to follow!
Also were adding a server in Asia!
